My only complain is there's less of entertaining content than Javed talking. Say he mentions the song .. 'chhod do anchal zamana kya kahega' .. and plays like 10 secs .. I'm into the song and then klpd
Actually quite hooked to it. It starta with 1950 and each episode covers a year. Finished till1961 so far. The commentary by Javed Akhtar, seems to hog the show, but 12 episodes down, I look forward to it. Probably this acts as an appetizer for the actual songs. In the other golden legends show, Javed Akhtar was avoiding controversy. He never commented on Dilip kumar madhubala love story.

Here also, he avoids it, but does talk about conservative censors of the old days. Including why 'Jaata kahan hai deewane' was edited off from CID.

I now plan to get rid of Netflux for a while and catch up all the old movies in YouTube.

The commentary also shows that many of movie crew were left wing guys like Shailender, Bimal Roy, etc. that shows that left thought which now shows up in Award wapsi was there from 50s

Re: Netflix movies worth watching

^^ YT is extremely extremely strict,.. never knew before,… almost all good movies, new movies, any new shows, award shows, any TV serial episodes or anything,.. it just deletes instantly, under some-na-some kinda copy rights violations and so does the dailymotion,…. Facebook is also extremely strict on this,…. And out of 9 videos , 7 are deleted or let not posted,…. ( I am not talking about any porn or abusive videos )

Few WA short clip circulation,…. I tried to put from Cell, and my connection takes hardly 5-10 sec for small clips,… but out of every 10 posted,…. 8-9 it deletes ( YT ) under some violation,…..

Better, now search movies on video.google.com as it also covers YT and also any other small sites around,….…

c l o u d y . e c, was some Chinese upload site and ppl ( found a sidetrack ) thought that, this will not be under that strict radar,……… but now they also got and caught that one too,.. ……….all free lunch is over,………….. No more new movies,….. they also delete instantly,……. N’ have left hardly few old Indian junk movies,….

Will have to buy a new CPU from Dell,…. this thx giving sale, and then will try the einthusan,… ! Netflix is too much to wait, for any new movies,….

sominaltvtheater.com or sominaltvfilms.com, spuul.com and http://firsttube.co/ etc. have gone, professional payee sites and also with so many Ads and viruses,...

^^
Most of the 50 year old movies are available on YT from Shemaroo films, etc.
Actually Ab Tak Chhapan 2 was also on YT before it showed up on Netflix US. Let me also check if one movie i didnt find on Netflix disc collection too is available in YT "Pather Panchali"

Re: Netflix movies worth watching

Search on Google site listed above as it will search in all sites including YT, for any movie.
Also many a times YT quality is not good, so I hate for that that compromise….
ATC-2 had seen long ago when it came,…2+ yrs ago ..
Also Bangali movies’ old set of 3-4 in line ( Apu Sansar ? ) with Panthar Panchali , rather look I your local library catalog they must have org. good DVDs….. All those B n W old movies of Satyajeet Ray’s I had found extreme boredom and vomit-makers,… of same scene sin each of,.. extreme poverty, akaal ( famine ) , sookha, skeleton old dosa-dosis,…. Dry land, hot sun, a skeleton dog, 3-5 beggar boyz in house like slumgdog millionaire, dirty way of cooking food, old lady vomits, tooti-khaat, dirty-dusty dry land, and such scenes,.. extreme Bengal famines,.. yada yada,…

All movies were, tension-ing and feeling yr hearts and brain with extreme lowlessness,… ! Did not like any and fast-forwarding was even waste of time,… ! Dunn’o but perhaps,…in ‘s availability when Movies were a new animal,… those movies rocked, as all around was also the same picture of real .

Get used to with your electronic on-line DVD ordering from library, as they connect the entire state electronically and have a hugh collection, you can ever imagine,..
almost many old Hindi movies,… Computerized system is way organized and hassle free,.. Or,.. tell me your zipcode and I will find it and explain it to you,....

He does have some insightful tit-bits on lyrics writing.. and some good stories. The whole writing scene was taken over by leftists around the world actually, I watched an older hollywood movie where a guy calls himself a writer, he's called a communist by the guy he's talking to.

50-60s was rich with good lyrics and even better music.. which makes most songs remembered even after half a century. Last 30 years, hardly anything is memorable after 2-3 years of release. No new music worth humming ..
