Re: Russian Roulette: An interesting Interview Puzzle

This is not an interview question anywhere. If I am asked this question I will just sue them and take over the company.

if u dont spin , ur chances of survival increases to 75% from 60%
If u spin, the event of 2nd shot may become independent of 1st but that does not nullify the argument that spin means 4/6 probability of surviving and not spinning means 3/5 probability. Some stronger argument required to deny this logic.

socho socho ... for people with IQ<40, it does take some time to grasp the logic.

Re: Russian Roulette: An interesting Interview Puzzle

simple explanation for newtons. einsteins may excuse.

the total possible sequences (anytime) are/were 6:
1) BBEEEE
2) BEEEEB
3) EEEEBB
4) EEEBBE
5) EEBBEE
6) EBBEEE

since the first shot has gone waste (no bullet was fired), the original sequence (b4 the shot was fired) was one of 3/4/5/6.

thus the current sequence (after the 1st shot) is one of following four:
EEEBBE
EEBBEE
EBBEEE
BBEEEE
(just shift 3/4/5/6 by 1)

So, there is 3/4 chance of survival (which is greater than 2/3 chance after spin).

Hence shoot without spin.
