Did he shoot the wrong guy Instead of going for O'Dwyer he shot O'Dyer... or vice-versa... didn't he

Believe me you, a lot more people know about Udham Singh than you feel sad about

Bah .. You southies know nothing for you never produced freedom fighters, other than LTTE.

Dyer was with the troops and ordered to fire at people protesting in Jallianwala Bagh. O'Dwyer was Governor of Punjab at the time, he supported the massacre by Dyer. Udham Singh lay the blame on the bigger fish for he felt it was all pre-planned with blessing from the Governor.

I read a report that O'Dwyer did not support the firing... and was against it. O'Dyer took it upon himself and went ahead without orders from above. But then why would you expect Udham Singh to have learnt all this and become more aware... he probably just shouted 'Jo boliya...' and jumped in

It cant really be called independence struggle. He was defending his kingdom from the British. Like the Sikhs were in 1837 or so.
BTW one frigate in Pakistan is called PNS Tippu.

There were some freedom fighters from the South like this one. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alluri_Sitarama_Raju
But not many elsewhere in the country know about them.
Plus in Madras, Annadurai and co were fighting for a separate Dravida nadu.
