Details of ur music system

Inspired by Gpel telling about his home-theatre system

What kind of music/movie system you have (configuration please)

I have branded SONY RV-8 model.

http://www.sonyindia.co.in/athome/mhc_rv8.cfm

Its 7000W, 2 surround speakers, with sub-woofer and inbuilt amplifier, 3CD changer (no DVD, only VCD, Tape, ACD, FM/AM) etc etc (I dont care about this etc )

I love it man

I have said before, but since it is my interest area, I will repeat

Infinity Interlude speakers (~$399 Ea.) x 5 + 50W rms Subwoofer
Yamaha Natural Sound Reciever 65x5 watts rms with linear discrete amplification (~$300)
Toshiba cd/vcd/dvd/cd-r/mp3 player
Toshiba S-vhs VCR
Toshiba Cinema Series 32" Flat screen TV with Dolby Surround sound

btw, shivsainik, can u indicate how much rms output your system makes? PMPO is such an idiotic way of misleading the common man.

You are absolutely right Dipl. I spent around a week or so to choose a system. PMPO is not the right measure. In india these guys dont give RMS o/p generally as people get attracted towards larger PMPO. but with this sony model this not the case. Though I m not sure abouit exact figure, but gives me more than enough clarity at very low and high volume.

Yeda, I thought this is japanese model only. They are just selling it in India.

And then show desi pics @ $10 . Great config but

My initial idea was to build customized system (with bose speaker). But they have just started selling it in India and I didnt wanted to wait.

whatever u do Gpel, Do check out a big B movie on Bose before u buy it. Bose satellite speakers have a problem handling anything below 250hz and the woofer can effectively delivery only upto 130hz. So there is a crossover gap of ~120hz which does become noticeable with heavy sounds like deep big B dialogues.

I never really had a hi-fi system

When we were in college my friends and I had bought two cheap mono amplifiers. A cheap walkman was used to provide the LEft and Right channels to each amplifier. The output was given to car speakers mounted in a earthen pot ('matka') and hung up on opposite corners of the wall.

At home I used to have a Panasonic Two-In-One stereo which worked pretty well.

In USA I have one of those simple CD plus tape deck plus radio combos.

Golden rule. Timbre matching.

You have to have the front and center channel speakers of the same type/timbre to get good sound movement/transition from left-middle-right or vice versa.

So better if you change all 3 or buy 2 that matches the center channel.

I sure will check that out. I might just go for a yamaha system if they have an 8 speaker surround system.
