Honest confession
Though I love rock music so much, I found the surround home theater system a bit unnerving or rather unnatural.
Let me explaion. A friend here has a great home theater system. I have attended live rock shows and know how the sound is. So we were watching a rock concert on his DVD and surround home sound system. He has all the widgets like Dolby Pro receiver, Ampplifier and so many speakers and this and that. The sounds are great. But after a while I found it all too artificial. Maybe I am used to listening to music on simple audio systems with just stereo sound and this new experience was very new to my ears and brains to accept. Yes I enjoy movies in theaters which have all that Dolby stuff. Maybe I was never exposed to home theater like sound and hence dont enjoy it much. |

Pelu, Yamaha speakers are not that Great. The recievers are Super. But not the speakers.
Check out JBL, Boston acoustics, Klipsch, Infinity, Mirage, and last but not the least, Polk.

So your instincts are right, kharcha pai. Just get a pair of good sounding floor speakers with stereo amplifier for listening to rock music.

I love music and therfore my music has to sound great. For me its not those fancy lights and rotating dials et all, but clean pure music. My system has taken me over 4 years to build and still going on but its one of the finest you will ever here. My basement has turned into a total home entertainment deco. I can play any music from Bach to Zeppelin and it sounds awesome. I still dont have a big screen TV to go with the system and will but one soon. I have short listed a Pioneer Elite 52" and a B&O 46". Here are the specs of my system.

Mine: 700 MHz, 100GB Media Center, connected to Kenwood
Amplifiers, and two Kenwood speakers. Has anyone used a multimedia card to connect to computer, like the Creative Audigy? I wanted the reviews. I want to convert my media center into full fledged MultiMedia center, with surround sound (even though I am not a great fan of surround sound). |

Does anyone have an overhead projector working as a substitute for huge TV?
I prefer things connected to computer, rather than standalone devices like DVD players, or even a TV.

On all gaming sites they say Audigy Pro is better than just the Audigy. Problem is buying speakers for it. I somehow dont forsee buying a $250 sound card and on top it buy $350 speakers for the computer.
These days a lot of comp manufacturers are giving audigy as standard with systems. |

Ravi..i think you got it wrong. I am no DJ nor a music creator. The only instrument that i can even play is a guitar. I have not created any music nor have the intention too.

me and a buddy of mine use turntable to create our own stuff. Basically mix a bunch of DJ stuff and hook it up to a PC, and create our own khichadi. He is a DJ and does the job very well. That's why I wondered if you managed to create any of your own khichdi so far. ____ Just to push this thread up... let me repeat my question. Has anyone used a multimedia card to connect to computer, like the Creative Audigy? I wanted the reviews. I wasn't aware until Padhu told me that they need proprietory speakers. Does any sound card come with multiple outputs as against the sterio o/p we see in regular cards? Any recommendations? Also Does anyone have an overhead projector working as a substitute for 50" TV? Wierd idea, eh! ![]() |
