Not really. Many people go by way of this route.

I know several people who have both a big screen television in their family room and a projector in the basement.

If you have any questions, let me know. I can ask them for you.

True, but many folks I know have moved totally software controlled entertainment.

Is it possible for you to ask them how they compare the qualities of both of them?

I have a frankensteined system really, which I built over time:

Front Speakers - 2 huge 3 foot tall Technics speakers that I acquired for $20, when I was helping a friend move. 200 Watts.

Amp for the speakers - Optimus (basically a rebranded Pioneer), picked up for $10 less from the friendly Radio Shack.

Rear speakers - Realistic from the friendly Radio Shack again.

VCR - Sharp (I rarely use it these days)

CD Player - Optimus again -- again discount at the Radio Shack, cuz I know the guy in charge of the store

DVD Player - Sony

TV - Tiny 21" Sanyo (cuz there isn't enough room for a bigger tv in my apt.)

Super Nintendo Entertainment System

Sony Playstation

I actually managed to get some decent discounts from the local Radio Shack, because I bought a computer from them years ago, and I would go there every few weeks or so, to get the latest gadget or parts. Anyways, I'm on a first name basis with the store owner now

no they are getting components from korea, indonesia, taiwan, malaysia, singapore. china and assembling them in india
The system I bought is available in Malaysia, Singapore and in Japan ( not so sure ). So I can conclude that it is not designed/mfg by Sony India.

The max they can do is assembling and giving service.

Is there any device in market (of course not expensive) to which I can connect/disconnect speakers easily. The problem I have is sometimes I can't hear music because either TV is on or somebody is visiting us. So what I can do is plug my rooms speaker(I have some old speakers) and unplug main speakers and listen to music. In normal case I can go ahead with normal sony speakers.

What kind of music/movie system you have (configuration please)

I have branded SONY RV-8 model.

http://www.sonyindia.co.in/athome/mhc_rv8.cfm

Its 7000W, 2 surround speakers, with sub-woofer and inbuilt amplifier, 3CD changer (no DVD, only VCD, Tape, ACD, FM/AM) etc etc (I dont care about this etc )

I love it man
I have Sony RV-7 , It is 4700 W and rest all same as RV- 8 model .

It is fitted with Sony Wega 29" TV ..... a good combination .

Apart from this , another set Thomson Portable VMP-800 is there , which has MP3 player , single ACD/VCD player and Audio cassette player with AM / FM radio ..... an economic but good set .
