Thumbs down How shamelessly Indian cinema plagiarises music

Even the greats like Shankar Jaikishan used to plagiarise music. Now here is a simple example.

First see this song http://youtube.com/watch?v=_gG-UIQDzaU from the film WOH LAMHE

Then see this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYte7dGNNHs

Lets collect all such examples here I want to make this thread a compilation of all such 'great original' music composers!

Wink Re: How shamelessly Indian cinema plagiarises music

Plagiarism is not limited to film music alone. Our so great and venerable Rabindranath Tagore has written a huge collection of songs whose tunes were actually not his. Those songs are interestingly called "Bhanga Gaan". "Bhanga Gaan" literally means "broken song" but based on the usage has other connotations.

But to Rabindranath's credit, most of the tunes he used in his song were public domain - well known folk music from around India and even the west. A perennial favorite in Bengali music is actually modelled on the song Auld Lang Syne :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auld_Lang_Syne

Also interestingly 4 hours of CD were released with a compilation of all Rabindranath's "Bhanga Gaan"

Then here is Pritam who entertained everyone with music for films like Dhoom and Gangster.

Need I say more?

And by the way here is more of your favourite music and here is a complete list of which song was lifted from which!

No, I was a bit tired of a couple of friends who used to keep singing praises of R.D. Burman and A.R. Rehman. I have nothing against these music directors and do enjoy their music. But when I hear 'Oh Rehman is God or no one compares to RD... ' I feel a bit irritated.

Cha Pai, I got a better idea, why not post the name(s) of the ones that we think are 'original' composers, n then let the echarchians find out how original they really are

Einstine said, ' Originality is art of concealing the source', duno form where he copied this one - hence oriniginal 'for the time being'
