anyway i found this on the net -

http://www.thehindu.com/fline/fl1808/18080910.htm

at least the person who wrote this article does not believe what you just said.
This and all articles admit "the Viceroy's moves were governed from England and the three were considered a challenge to the Raj." - more of a challenge than Gandhi was at the time.
Also "A controversy was generated about Mahatma Gandhi not getting an amnesty for Bhagat Singh under the pact, and it put him on the defensive.". Gandhi was put on defensive - no smoke without fire!
In fact, Nehru was all out to support the three in official congressi resolutions but was drawn back. Except Jinnah nobody from congress at that time publicly proclaimed solidarity with the three.

Disagree. Bhagat's death did add to his legend. The legend itself started off with his throwing the bomb and subsequent hunger strike in the prison. Bhagat's popularity already started to rival Gandhi's even as he was alive! Even the powers that be, at that time, thought it was better to hang Bhagat as soon as possible - and not even hand his body back to the people for the fear of invoking a wide spread uncontrollable riot. The bodies of the three were almost disposed off in secrecy out of public glare.

nobody blames Gandhi for Bhagat's fate. Nobody says Gandhi fought a case against Bhagat.
What is said however is that if Gandhi had insisted, then there could have been some clemency granted for Bhagat singh.
What is also an indisputable fact is that Gandhi hated Bhagat Singh's guts to come all out with his extremist views, take action on them and whip up a large support. Gandhi purposely distanced himself from Bhagat at all times to show that he did not condone violence in any form, against any one.

Ironic but true, who would support someone who openly asked for blood in return for freedom?!

Re: Bhagat Singh Special

Modi is in Punjab today. He will visit Hussainiwala to pay tribute to our real heroes. This has somehow forced media to give good coverage to The Legends (This is what was in new channel in this morning, not sure abt rest of the day).

Real Nationalist - Modi.

Anna also visited Bhagat's birth place yesterday.

Salute to The Legends.

Re: Bhagat Singh Special

He was too intelligent for his age.

His "Why I am an atheist" is one of the most rational argument against conception of God.

Well, checked up again and found that he was just about halfway into his 24th year, i.e. he was only 23 when he died (or Martyred as many including me would prefer)

He is a hero to people with diverse beliefs- Commies (after all the organization had name 'Socialist' in it), Sardarjis (who claim that he had converted back to Sikhism just before dying) and Hindu Nationalists (he was a Nationalist).
