Once you are through I-140 and your I-485 has been applied, then you are 99% done. I mean you just have to wait in line and use your EAD card for employment purposes and Advance Parole (AP) for travel outside the US.

Now they have lots of questions to ask.They are going into lots of technical details.Just 3-4 months back,they were not so strict.
You cannot question their intentions though.They want to take care of Americans first.

My labor took 6 months to clear. The time they tell is just an estimate. It just depends on which area you are working and what your position is. They take their time in this and there is pretty much nothing you could do about it. Isiliye bas mast baitho aur zyaad nahi socho labor ke baare mein.

That was before PERM. Its a lot less with the PERM process. Did it take that long for you ?

It should not take that long Napolean. At the most 6-8 months these days. 140 takes less than a week now. For the dates to become current and for you to be able to apply for your 485, it will take about 10 years I think. That is worst case though, might be sooner too.
