Re: Bhul jao Green Card - Forget your Green card dream

Last tem I checked ... it was pinkish.

I can never understand some of you ... what the tofu is wrong with you people ... you guys are willing to put up with decade of uncertain future ... what the tofu for? There are beautiful countries like Australia where you will be welcomed with open arms and yet you waste away youthful lives jerking off to dreams even most mehicans have given up on.

Sad`... some of you will marry older women ... some of you will fall in love with gay people ... for what? Our country is not such a bad place to live ... India is and will always be your home. Come back to India and you will have choice of beautiful girls who want to marry an India and not a GC holder.

Don't be under foolish pretentious ... we here in India know shit you guys do for a living over there and all the shit you put-up with.

US is a great country ... no doubt about it ... but is years of uncertain life worth it ... is all I am trying to say.

But after a long wait the fruits are healthy. GC gives people money and stability which is not possible in India. All job related uncertainities end. You can even work as a car mechanic/grocery shop boy/ sell DVD players at Fry's etc if you lose your IT job. (I think you can also get unemployment benefits if you decide to do nothing). This you can do till you get your citizenship 5-7 years thereafter! So it's just a matter of 12-15 years of your life so what?

Latest from Oz: Indian suffers broken nose in assault

In yet another racial attack on Indians in Australia, a 22-year-old student was allegedly assaulted by a teenager in Adelaide after making "rude" comments about his turban.

Police said the victim suffered a broken nose in the assault in Adelaide's busy market area of Rundle Mall on Thursday and that they have arrested a 17-year-old youth in this connection.

They said the attacker has been bailed to appear in the Adelaide Youth Court.

The attack comes after Indian students in Melbourne and Sydney held series of rallies over violent attacks and repeated calls for an inquiry into racial attacks against them.

Local media quoted the victim, who requested anonymity, as saying that the attacker started a confrontation by making "rude comments" about his turban.

In another incident, Pakistani student Yasir Raja, 26, believes his Holden Commodore was torched because of its "Raja" numberplate.

Raja said friends living in the Enfield area had increased security around their homes in fear of racist attacks.

For guys who somehow want to stay in 'Phoreign' there is one good option for Europe. You should spend Rs 9 lacs. Then buy a family visa for Latvia (a country in east Europe). Within 2-3 years you'll get a European union passport. Then the world ...err...phoreign world is yours!

When you say EB3 category is unavailable now - does it mean that priority dates are not available or does it mean that new applications(Labor) cannot be filed in EB3 ?

Many folks think that USCIS (formerly INS) issues visas. No, the USCIS does all the process required for a person to be approved for a visa. Its the State department which issues a visa. So USCIS might process X number of people but if the State department does not have X visas to give, then those 'ready for visa' folks have to wait.

The visa quota for worldwide immigration is set in the immigration bills passed in the Congress and approved for Senate. So for instance the cap on H1B visa was set to 60,000 visas. USCIS has no control on the number of visas. It is decided by the lawmakers. USCIS will simply give out the visas it receives from the State Department from the quota for that fiscal year.

Re: Bhul jao Green Card - Forget your Green card dream

Saint Obama's action - or should I say inaction - on immigration reform!!

Quote:
White House puts off immigration meeting again
By Aaron Blake
Posted: 06/12/09 01:44 PM [ET]
The White House has postponed, for the second time this month, a meeting with members of Congress on the administration’s plan to take up the illegal immigration issue.

The White House had planned the meeting for June 8 originally and rescheduled it for June 17. It is being rescheduled for next week, according to a White House official.

"The meeting will happen soon and a new date is being set," the official said.

The meeting is set to include a small number of senators and members of Congress and is acting as a kickoff for the administration’s efforts on immigration.

The White House has previously conceded that it is unlikely to make much headway on the issue until later this year, but the delayed meetings suggest getting started will be even more difficult than first anticipated.

Even Obama allies are starting to worry about the delay.

“If it’s postponed, we’re confident it will be rescheduled, but the president can’t keep leaving us at the altar and not going through with the meeting,” one source said. “It’s starting to feel like the guy who has your phone number and will never call you.”

Ana Navarro, a Republican activist in Florida, said the uncertainty is hurting Obama’s credibility.

“It is no surprise that so many Republicans on the Hill don't think Obama is serious about leading on immigration and looking for cover,” Navarro said. “If the Latino groups want to see this get done, they need to hold his feet to the fire.”
