I797 Lost

my friend going to India misplaced her I797 document in the connecting plane. She was not able to board the internaltional plane since I797 is important for reentry . After frantically searching she is convinced that maybe the docs are lost.

So is it possible to travel to India on a notarized I797 document , since her employee can provide a copy of the I797 .

Re: I797 Lost

I am sure there're many knowledgeable people on EC, but you're better off cross posting it on immigrationportal.com.

I assume your friend is still in US and hasn't left. I don't think a notarized copy will work. Every employer as a 797C (employer courtesy copy). Ask U.S Consulate in India if they accept it to stamp her passport.
What is the status of stamp on her passport? For re-entry the unexpired stamped visa may actually be enough.
