when you look at a game in which svyatogor72 is playing, you know its dhurs...I have a rating that varies anywhere in purple range...1500 to 1799..once or twice I made it into orange but then was brought back to purple. Also, I only play timed games.. mostly 2 to 5 minute games

I played 1 or 2 games in 2000 (or was it 2001). I don't know what is purple, orange rating? Logged in yahoo games after years and couldn't even find chess, the page has changed so much. Earlier it was something like games.yahoo.com/chess or something equally simple.

Found the following info in my games profile:

yahoo seems to have long memories

Kode bhau - your first move Queen D2-B4 does not seem to be a forcing one - Black can just take white bishop standing at c6 and wait for white to take black b at e7.

I think solution will be -
1.Qd8+ Bxd8(forced - black does not have any other move)
2.Re8#

First move is forced cause if black does not take out the queen in the next move white can move rook from D1-D8 as shown below (After black taking out Bishop at C6)

Haven't checked ur solution yet, will see if that is correct soon

If this is your solution then it sounds correct to me.

First move is more forced than what I have in my solution

No .. Naps solution is correct. If you move queen to b4 .. all black has to do is to take his bishop on c8 off of the 8 line. End of threat.

Naps solution is perfect from what I can tell.

Puzzle 5: White to play win [Unsolved]

Code:
FEN: 7b/2rNqp1k/p6p/1p6/4nN1P/P2QP3/1P4R1/1K6
You can load this FEN code in chessup.net and try variations visually (instead of mentally )

BTW this is INSANELY EASY ... that means SanelessBhau cant solve it

Re: Tougher Chess Puzzles (force several moves and win)

white knight to f8 check. Black Queen @ E7 takes out the white knight @ f8.

White Queen @ d3 takes out the black knight @ E4 Check Mate.

The black pawn @ f7 can move to f5 and block but the result will still be the same.
