Dattaraya Ramchandra Kaprekar (17 January 1905 – 1986) was an Indian mathematician who discovered several results in number theory, including a class of numbers and a constant named after him. Despite having no formal postgraduate training and working as a schoolteacher, he published extensively and became well-known in recreational mathematics circles .

ok, interesting, lekin kuch kaam ka hai kya? Where and how is it used? or is it of interest only from a pure math point of view?

Question Re: Dr. Kaprekar's constant - 6174 - very interesting

I have hazy memory of hearing that some Mumbai guy found solution to demerit of Duckworth–Lewis method of calculation in cricket. If it’s true, post link or at least give info like his name etc.

P.S.: Circa 2009-2012.

If you multiply two five digit numbers you can get the answer 123456789. Can you guess the two five digit numbers?

Itna kya soch raha hai, yaar! Use MS Excel.

Paste 123456789 along 1000 lines in Col 1

In Col 2, create nos from 10003 to 11003 (if you don't know how to do this, go Row+1 and then copy that along the col)

Col 3 = Col1/Col2

See what comes out. If that doesn't work, expand to another 1000.
