No survivors from Pakistan plane crash, official says

Islamabad, Pakistan (CNN) -- A commercial airplane carrying at least 121 people crashed Friday in Rawalpindi just before it was to land at an airport in Islamabad, according to Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority, which cited poor weather as a possible factor. No survivors have been found, officials said.

The Bhoja Air Boeing 737 was making its first flight from Karachi to Islamabad, where the weather was cloudy, authority spokesman Pervaz George told CNN. Officials initially reported that 131 people were on board, but George later reduced that number.

The crash occurred near the Pakistani air force's Chaklala airbase, which is adjacent to the Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad.

Debris and body parts were scattered across the crash site as workers sifted through the wreckage in the heavily populated residential area. At least 110 bodies had been recovered from the scene, a government official said.

The flight data recorder was recovered Friday at the site of the crash, according to CNN affiliate Geo TV, which broadcast video of the device after it was found.

Reliance Industries shareholders displeased, Mukesh confident still
Mumbai, June 7: The 38th annual general meeting at the Birla House in Mumbai saw a jamboree of the Reliance Industries shareholders led by the Chairman and Managing Director - Mr Mukesh Ambani, who entered with mother Kokilaben, wife Nita Ambani, two sons and daughter.
Anticipating major announcements on the buy back, 4G roll out and KG Basin output, the shareholders arrived much before the Chairman.
Entering the 35th year since the company's IPO (initial public offer), Mr. Ambani unveiled ambitious plans and re-assuring statements in his speech.
After listening to some praise and much criticism, Mr Ambani sounded undeterred. “For me, in 35 years, I am used to people being cynics and respect everybody's views,” he said.
Market expert Mr A.K. Prabhakar of Anand Rathi Financial Services said, “There was not much clarity on the cash surplus apart from the assurance that the cash will be invested in various businesses and the projects”.
A few regular shareholders visiting the AGM also recited poetry for the chief along with a demand for wife Nita Ambani's selection on Board.
Lighter moments
One of the shareholders questioned as to “why a company with Rs 20,000 crore profits paid a meagre Rs 8.5 per share as dividend to its owners”.
Some elderly shareholders showed displeasure about the company's diversification into retail and digital sectors to which Mr Ambani replied, “By being shareholders for a long time, you would understand what Dhirubhai Ambani stands for. If not for these expansions, we started as a textile company and would've remained a textile company,” he said firmly.
“We are one of the few companies to be at the top from textile to oil sectors. We believe in the business of the people in any economy,” said Mr Ambani. He added, “I am confident of the young people delivering and I want you, me and the entire country to support it.”

High school students launch petition for female moderator

It's been 20 years since a woman moderated a presidential debate, but three New Jersey high school students are hoping to change that this year.

Emma Axelrod, Sammi Siegel and Elena Tsemberis, three high school sophomores from Montclair, N.J., have launched a petition on Change.org, calling for the Commission on Presidential Debates to select a female moderator for at least one of the three 2012 presidential debates between President Barack Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney in October.
ABC News' Carole Simpson, the last woman to moderate a presidential debate, served as moderator of a 1992 debate between Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush and Ross Perot. PBS' Gwen Ifill moderated two vice presidential debates ( 2004's Dick Cheney-John Edwards and 2008's Joe Biden-Sarah Palin), but the rest have been moderated by men.

Rajesh Khanna to be discharged soon: Dimple Kapadia

Mumbai: Rajesh Khanna, the superstar of the 1970s, is recovering and will be discharged from the hospital in a day or two, said actress and his estranged wife Dimple Kapadia.

"He is doing well. He is much better now. He shall be discharged in a day or two," Dimple told IANS.

The 69-year-old was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital on Saturday.

He has not been keeping well for quite some time. Lately, his manager Ashwin told IANS that the actor had stopped taking food for three or four days.

But the next day, Rajesh Khanna stepped out of his Bandra bungalow, Aashirvad, to wave at fans. Dimple and son-in-law Akshay Kumar were at his side and said that he was fine. In April, the actor was admitted to hospital after he felt uneasy and weak. He was discharged after about three days.

Dimple told IANS that "he is exhausted and a little weak" and that he doesn't have any liver infection. Rajesh Khanna recently featured in Havell's fan new ad campaign called - Havells Fans Forever.

Fondly called 'Kaka' by his fans, his golden era started with the 1969 blockbuster 'Aaradhana' and it was followed by hits like 'Do Raaste', 'Safar', 'Kati Patang' and 'Anand'.

In 1973, he married Dimple and has two daughters with her - Twinkle and Rinkie. The two separated in 1984 and thereafter lived separately.

Their elder daughter Twinkle is married to Akshay Kumar and Rinki is married to London-based investment banker Samir Saran.

11,000 Muslim youths pen birthday wishes for CM

SURAT: Muslim youths of Limbayat area were kept busy on Saturday with an assignment. They have been penning birthday wishes for chief minister Narendra Modi in Urdu. About 11,000 Muslim youths, all of whom have migrated to the city from other states will send these wishes to Modi on his 62nd birthday on Monday. One lakh migrants from other communities will also send across their best wishes.

It is the brain child of Narendra Modi Group formed by local BJP councillor Ravindra Patil that decided to send across a political message in the poll year. A medical practitioner, Patil has asked for Modi's appointment and will hand over the 1.11 lakh wishes personally to the chief minister on Monday.

"I have been living in Gujarat for the last few years. It has peace and development. I can earn my bread and butter in a peaceful environment because of Modi, who is encouraging good people to join politics," said M D Rehman of Bihar Jharkhand Samaj. Rehman belongs to Ara district of Bihar and is working as a marketing manager in a textile unit.

For Masood Ahmed of Raibareilley in Uttar Pradesh, who runs a dyeing unit, peace is most important. "Since Modi came to power, Gujarat has been developing. We came in search of employment and peace is important for business," he said. Organizer of the initiative Patil said, "The state is celebrating a decade of development. The locals wanted to wish Modi in a special way. So we decided to send 1.11 lakh wishes with names, contact numbers and addresses of the well wishers."

Harvard bans professors from having sex with undergraduates

The Faculty of Arts and Sciences Committee on Sexual Misconduct Policy and Procedures determined the university’s language on “relationships of unequal status” was not strong enough.
“Therefore, the Committee revised the policy to include a clear prohibition to better accord with these expectations,” Harvard said in its statement.
The university, which is based in Cambridge, just outside Boston, has about 2,400 faculty members and about 6,700 undergraduate students. Previously, its policy prohibited professors from having sex with students under their direct supervision. The policy now specifically bans professors and undergraduates from having any romantic or sexual involvements.

Now, i know a joke of a peeping tom Bong being called a 'Keyholo'. but what do you call Peeping Tom Goans. I thought the Goans could just visit a beach and satisfy all their voyeuristic desires. Oh. it is not 'the tourist season' nowadays..

Trying on clothes at an outlet of a reputed garment brand at Candolim village near here, a vigilant Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani on Friday spotted a hidden camera positioned to record inside the small room and raised an alarm. The Goa Police have registered a case against the staff for voyeurism.
