Refurbished stuff

Have you bought any refurbished products from stores? Especially electronics items.. they sell for less than 50-60% of the original cost, and if they are guaranteed to work fine, would you buy?

I have so far stayed away from refurbished goods, but recently my camera went bad after a month of having bought it, so the store won't take it back. The manufacturer had me ship it to their repair center and returned it back after having repaired it. They guaranteed the repairs for another year. Makes me think that its like having a refurbished item.

Re: Refurbished stuff

Somebody in India has asked me to get them a Nike Fuelband (one of those activity tracker bands).. its selling for 100 bucks at Nike store and the refurbished one is for 50 bucks at ebay.

I'm thinking of getting the refurbished one cause I may not be getting paid back for it. Caught in a dilemma over it.

But you are stupid.
Why did would you send Godiva? Did they ask for it?

BTW....just give them refurb'd.

I don't buy refurb'd for myself.

I once bought refurbished hard drive from Dell...was pathetically slow and crappy. Lesson learnt...will never buy refurbished electronics.

Rather than refurbished , by used . Lot of chaps sell used stuff on craigslist . Many chutias are around who upgrade electronics every year .

good idea.. although I avoid craigslist like the plague, I will check it out.. I dont wanna end up dead over a Nike Fuelband

I once got conned when buying a used iphone via craigslist to gift somebody.. mofo gave me a 8 Gigs Iphone instead of 16 Gigs.. later wouldn't return calls or texts.. boy the speed he zipped in his car as soon as he got the cash.. of course I had checked everything but back then I was new to Iphones.

I have experienced this. I sent Godiva for my mom's birthday. So, when some distance relatives visited her, she offered them some. Apparently they fell in love with it and asked me for it. But i told them though that they cost a lot of money and you do not have that in budget right now. I had to be direct. For parents/ siblings its OK but these distant relatives who visit you only to get gifts from you...no point in giving them Godiva.

Re: Refurbished stuff

I only buy refurbs from trusted companies... err... company

I'd buy used stuff for experiments with the expectation that the item won't last long.
