How many watt LED bulb will give light of a normal 40watt tubelight ?

Re: LED bulbs

In Delhi, we have 2 7watt LED bulbs in the room instead of the 40 watt tubelight. Normally need to light one bulb only. For the kitchen, 1 bulb is enough.

Delhi govt. has given every subscriber 4 LED bulbs (7 watts) for Rs. 93 each

Re: LED bulbs

One more chonchla. Has high initial costs compared to a CFL light but very marginal savings. You could try using the 'NPV' function in excel and enter your interest rate and the expected savings every year. CFL works out better.

CFL life is very short plus compared to led it generates a lot of heat even at low wattage.

Re: LED bulbs

LED Bulb packages in US show the regular watt equivalent on them. Is that not the case in India?

The LED wattage vary, depending on the brightness, intended purpose (e.g. small table lamps vs. large rooms), efficiency, etc. I've seen the wattage range from 4.5w to 9w that outputs about 40-watt equivalent light.

CFL life is 2 years and LED life is 8 years. But LED is some 4-5 times costlier. And from my experience i know something else will come up in these 8 years. After all CFL bulbs played the environment card and now incandescent bulbs are banned in Umrika. Now the same manufacturers are trying to push the LED bulbs using the same argument. But so the Math and LED is profitable only if you have 0 interest rate.
