Tuitions from a junior - what would you do?

I am trying to learn an ancient language. The problem is there are very few people ready to teach it. I am trying to take informal tuitions/coaching from a girl who knows that language. The issue is she is way my junior in age. She is still going to college.

I do not know what to feel about it. My friend tells me that "if you feel humiliated, convert that to humility". That is a nice slogan.

What would you feel if you had to take coaching from someone way your junior in age? Would you feel humiliated? Depressed? Embarrassed?

Re: Tuitions from a junior - what would you do?

The age of the teacher does not matter, what matters is how much knowledge that teacher has and how the teacher is feeding that to you.

Re: Tuitions from a junior - what would you do?

The main downside is (assuming you have one), your better half, she may doubt you of having other motivations for taking tutions from a girl much younger than you.

Else, for years having being bossed over by men and women far younger than me (and less padha likha), 'Aadat padh gayi hai'.

Re: Tuitions from a junior - what would you do?

There is a term called "Sugar Daddy". Just, in this case, instead of "sugar" from the young lady and "sh*gar" from your better-half, you can actually learn this language from her and finance her college in return. Win-win situation... and no embarrassment

Re: Tuitions from a junior - what would you do?

I dont think there is anything to be embarrassed about. not everyone can be good in everything. If she knows what you need to learn, go for it, especially since there are not a lot of people around to teach you that.

My gym instructor is younger than me by at least a decade. The person who helps me with IT issues at work is just out of college. Put age factor away and learn what you need to...thats what i would do

Aashika ji said it....

Things are changing so fast, more and more, those teaching are younger than those learning.

btw I am curious, what ancient language is this that a college kid knows and no-one elder is prepared to teach?

I am pretty sure youngsters will not know Klingon. Elders who know it will be too eager to teach and show off!

The questions should be
  • Do you think the tutor is knowledgeable on the subject matter?
  • Do you think the tutor is able to impart the knowledge to you effectively?
  • Are you learning the language?

Other than that what difference does it make if the tutor is half your age or older to you?

arre baba Fortran is not so ancient, in fact very much in use in the scientific world. No other language supports 16th decimal accurate calculations as Fortran does. Spent 2 years in my masters writing fortran programs to model and calculate electric fields generated by piezoelectric materials.

Compared to Swift, it's ancient
