Scirocco

Encouraged by the response that Shiv Sainik got in this thread I decided to get the opinion of all the good folks here.

I am planning to buy a VW Scirocco, and the best part is that wifey is encouraging me to go for it....

Just want your views about this particular machine.

Thankoo in advance.

If wifey is saying go for it then go for it soon, before mind change

Re: Scirocco

i don't think it's sold here in N.A - looks nice and compact though, on second thoughts, this doesn't look like a people mover/ have room for luggage with more than 2 people in it - shouldn't u be getting something more practical ???

Re: Scirocco

Wonder why we don't get this here in america

But looking at specs this looks very good car. As proud VW owner I can say their engine quality rocks ! Does it have DSG gearbox? DSG is amazing fun.

Re: Scirocco

218Kph = ~135mph top speed - thats nothing to sneeze at. seems to be a decently zippy car. inlines are fun to drive and more efficient as opposed to the power hungry V's. also 160 horses (bhp) is not bad at all for a car this size although i would recommend the 2.0 Litre 200hp turbocharged version

Kyo be ? Tu national park gaya tha na ?

4 cylinder is not under-powered for small car. Depends on overall weight. My car (GTI) too is 4 cylinder but 2.0 ltr/200 bhp car. Top speed doesn't matter since most of the cars controls it electronically (and anyway its almost impossible to drive anything beyond 100 mph on normal roads).

atleast V6 with 2.3 lt engine is recommeded for cars if you love to drive fast.

Re: Scirocco

V4 with 1.4 L engine is not bad. All the zip zoop driving will get over pretty soon and then all u want is a car that will give you good mileage. In US there is very less possibility that you will ever go above 100 mph, so speed there is all good.
I drive v4, 2.0L engine car and have traveled from Auburn to detroid and back and then Auburn to SLC.....no problem at all .

v4 2.0 is okay for guys who finally think about the good mileage, not me. I need my ride powerful and ability to beat any vehicle on the US roads where going beyond 100miles has very less possibility.

Abe power power kya kar raha hai ? Whats your definition? If you are talking about big vehicles then surely they need V6+ and 3.0+ ltr engines to carry that weight. But for small vehicles, V4 is enough though more is certainly better. Don't forget that this is turbo-charged engine not the normal one.

My car does 0-60 mph in 6.9 seconds (official time though I can do better at around 6.6 with minimum weight in car) and max speed is 130 mph and beats any of your big cars in winding roads with terrific handling. Bol aur kya chahiye ?

As said in above my v4 does 0-60 mph in 6.6 seconds and max speed is 130 (electronically controlled) and have amazing pick-up for 40-70 mph as well (required for passing/overtaking). Remember this is stock car ! My v4 is very good car to tune and with little modifications you can do wonders.

But again it depends on requirements. If you want powerful car for minimum 4 people + saman for long rides then strong SUV's are recommended.

and that gives you satisfaction?
v6 will give u quick acceleration, but that is about it for advantages when considering small cars.
Apart from that v4 can do anything a v6 can with better rerwards
