Who is right?

Below are quotes from two great personalities. Am quoting them without the context so, may be, there are no absolute answers.

Nonetheless, share your view. Feel free to provide contexts.

Who you think is right?

1) भय बिन प्रीत ना होए गोपाला - गोस्वामी तुलसीदास

2) भिती असते तिथे प्रीति नसते - बाबा आमटे

There is nothing called love or you can say give-n-take is called by another name~love.

but give-n-take can be with anyone. e.g. u give money to a shopkeeper and he gives you goods. but you dont love the shopkeeper (whatever the context/perspective). So?
Also, what is your vote?

"BHUI" also means (probably) existance for Bhaiyyas!
In which case, the translation would be: Without existance of love, there can be no God (Gopala)!

I think it depends on context and what kind of love we are talking about.

I mean, love can be possible without fear. Say, you fall in love with someone and he/she doesnt even know about it, whats there to fear? Especially when you have no intention telling him that you are in love with him/her?

Say, you are in love with your beloved grand ma who passed away a long time ago, whats there to fear?

the translations I have provided are correct. I know both Awadhi/Bhojpuri & Marathi.

there's definitely fear in the subconscious mind.. fear of not getting love so accepting whats coming along.. fear of being ordinary so pretend like you are in love.. fear of not being loved by anybody.

exactly.
Fear may be required for respect. but for love?
And Goswami was one of those blessed souls who saw Bajrang Bali right here on this material earth. Hence difficult to question his words.

What kind of respect is it... if it comes from fear

respect comes from different reasons - fear is just one of them.Does not apply to everybody though - some counter it by avoidance.

Re: Who is right?

The term 'Preeti' is generally used in context with lovers and not necessarily with love (element). The bond of love between two people of opposite sex develops out of mutual needs and common/vested interests. Insecurity too plays a critical role in this kind of relation.

The divinely love (prem) is a natural trait, which is the ultimate emotion (tatva) and therefore, where prem exits, nothing else (including fear) can be there.

'Asate' to me sounds like 'asatya' (lie / dishonesty) and not fear. So none of them seems to have got it right. Both Tulsi and Amte were fanatics in their own ways. To realize prem, you have to move beyond this trait.

Re: Who is right?

G.T. probably wrote it as sarcasm; or, he was cynical about love!
We had a poem "Varsha" penned by him:
Varsha kaal megh nabh chayyen, Garjat laagat param suhayee;
Daamini damak rahee ghan maahi, Khalkaie "PREET" jatha theer nahi...........

But, further on he compares the croaking of frogs with students reciting the Vedas (learning by heart!)!
