Laptop not starting

Here is the story.

My Lenovo laptop which had Windows 7 had its keyboard and monitor broken by my toddler.
So, i got a wireless keyboard +mouse and an external monitor. It was working quite well with those.

however, yesterday, when the image was not showing up on the monitor (the broken laptop monitor was lighting up though, indicating it was on) i pressed the shut down button with gutso 4-5 times, only to realize that it was just that the external monitor was not plugged to the laptop. Now, it just refuses to start. if i switch it on, i see some lights on the keyboard for 10 secs and it would not starts.

Now,
Any one knows the problem and the remedy?

Re: Laptop not starting

If you haven't tried this yet, give it a shot.. remove the battery, let it sit for a little bit, connect it back and try restarting.

Alternatively, try restarting the laptop only on AC source i.e. without the battery.

Your laptop may require a new motherboard. You can find a reasonably priced motherboard on tigerdirect.com.

Re: Laptop not starting

My final suggestion .. and now I've run out of ideas after this one.

1. remove the battery and power cord
2. push and hold down the power button for 45 seconds
3. restore battery and power cord
4. restart the laptop

Re: Laptop not starting

My old laptop does start, but screen remains blank, what could be the problem?

Try connecting to a PC monitor and see if the picture comes up, if so the connection to laptop screen needs to be fixed or the screen needs replaced.

Laptop screen can be replaced for Rs. 5 to 10K and there are companies/shops that guarantee the parts and labor for a year. You can replace the screen yourself by looking at youtube videos, if you are so inclined and like DIY.

I already had bought a Toshiba 15.6" laptop from amazon at half the price of an iPad. however this 2 year old Lenovo had an outlook PST file which had my office order confirmation!

You should be able to get the hard drive out and get it to work, no easy to achieve it though.

Thats not a solution. It does not fix the problem he is having with his current laptop. You are only providing a workaround.

Re: Laptop not starting

Press F1 (or the key used to enter bios setup) when you power on the laptop, meanwhile try Fn + F7 to manually switch to external monitor,if by any chance you see display coming on the screen load bios defaults and restart.

Did you try another power adapter for the laptop ?

That is called emotional atyachar. Laptop was fucking with your feelings.

i pressed the shut down button with gutso 4-5 times,
Shameful when a married man doesn't know basic rules of a relationship. A man ought to be gentle with women and laptops. Now you are fucked.

only to realize that it was just that the external monitor was not plugged to the laptop. Now, it just refuses to start. if i switch it on, i see some lights on the keyboard for 10 secs and it would not starts.
I told you. You are fucked. Blame it on gusto gusto bullshit that laptop decided to screw you for good. Be gentle with next one.

Now,
Any one knows the problem and the remedy?
Yes. I know a call center in India ... they will help fix it for small fee and details of your credit card or bank account. You like?
just kidding ...
