Re: Father of Indian cinema,Dadasaheb Phalke family in distress

Too late for dadasaheb but for future generations, dont the directors have rights over the movies? Every penny they make on movie should go to his account; from there to the legal heir.

But then how will a movie make any money after its off the theatres? i mean everything is available online now.

I agree with many though. government shouldn't be held responsible for kids/grand-kids of an actor.

Actually, thats a good idea. Since Army has refused MNS Army welfare fund, MNS could ask for a filmy welfare fund for those who have fallen on hard times. One example is Srivallabh Vyas. There was also Manmohan Shinde, who was apparently a cameraman of Sholay. Even 'Agrezon ke zamaane ke jailor', Asrani seems ot have fallen on hard times.

probably, the copyrights go into public domain after 50 - 100 years. A lot of old films were maintained in an archive in Pune which caught fire.
