Good enough earning for her.. official figures show she's made USD 174K in doubles so far this year.. and add some for endorsements, etc.

Re: French Open 2014

Joko in Semis; so is Sharapova...

If Joko wins French Open, then we will have three champions (Fed, Rafa & Joko) playing in the same era with each of them having a career grad slam under their belt; has this even happened before in the history of tennis ?

Re: French Open 2014

Rafa and Joko it is... watching Joko completing his carrier GS did be great; its high time when we see a new champ who just plays over Rafa, no injury, no out of form, no other complains, Rafa plays his game and Joko just outplays him ... would love to see that

Halep-Sharapova Final will also make an interesting watch

Re: French Open 2014

Djoko has physical issues .. He played 3rd set like he was injured and took very long to come out for press conf.. Almost admiited he has some issues do hoing 2 day break will help.. He wont practice much.

Rafa became the first player in history of open era tennis to reach a grand slam final 9 times.. he will win record 5th time since 09 .. I think it will be a tight match with Rafa in 4 sets.. Losing the first and getting the next 3.

Rafa despite a stiff back has peaked at the right moment.. The way he decimated Murray showed he has good form now .. Vamos Rafa !!! 9th roland garros it will be on sunday .. The humble gentle giant shall triumph.

Re: French Open 2014

If djoko is 6 foot 5 or more and playing top form only then he can handle Rafa's high spin balls for 5 sets.. I was sure Rafa would get Joker unless his back stiffens badly.. Especially coz joker was down physically in 3rd set in semis due to heat.

Joker should concentrate on his health and fitness.. He cant afford to give away a set like he's dieing .. It can still work against minions but not against top 5-10 players.

lol, I just wanted to see Joko complete his career GS, but hard luck .....

I think its just a mental block, Nadal does not play like 'unbeatable'; its just matter of time when the new generation comes into play and start beating the legends, the same happened with Federer; when he was No. 1 for five straight years, most of the good players used to lose against him because they just can not imagine themselves winning against him ... same holds true with Rafa on clay ...

I still have a gut feeling that Joko will have a better head to head record against Rafa by the end of his career, in fact, I don't see Rafa winning against him in any tournament except the French Open

Rafa is heading close to become a Novratilova; Federer has already become a Graf

Chalo, abhi to Rafa jindabad kehna hee padega

Your gut feelings no good.. you fail time and time again.. I predicted the # of sets and the first set loss then 3 sets.. ..

Also, I think you did not watch the drubbing he gave to Djokovic in US Open last year.. again in 4 sets. Also, Rafa won the 2010 US Open by beating Joker again in 4 sets.. check your facts properly

Rafa has denied Joker the French like he did to Fed, Joker had better outsource the job to Soderling or somebody else to help him out Joker has 6 trophies and lost 7 finals.. whereas Rafa has lost 6 and won 14, 1 of which was due to injury in Oz this year. BTW, Uncle Toni is already #DREAMIN9 of a 10th French .. will happen for sure.

Problem is Joker is trusting Becker to deliver but he didn't win a French himself .. also he was like fish out of water after first set at the net, so I don't think he has picked up a lot of net skills from Becker, I think he should and will fire him soon.

Re: French Open 2014

Lets compare, I consider Rafa as the GOAT, not Federer, he has gotten over Fed at his prime and never let him back after that, Fed has lost 6 slam finals to Rafa, and Rafa lost only 2 slam finals to him. Then Joker got the better of Rafa but he has upper hand in slams 4-3.

Quote:
Federer's Career record: 954222 (81.12% in ATP World Tour and Grand Slam main draw matches, and in Davis Cup)

Joker's Career record: 567135 (80.77%)

Rafa's Career record: 699135 (83.81% in ATP World Tour and Grand Slam main draw matches, and in Davis Cup)

Murray's Career record: 443140 (75.99%)

lol, Federer is beyond these stats; he has been super fit and super consistent, he is still winning big tournaments and might even win an odd GS (like once Becker won Australian open after passing 30s, he defeated Michal Chang in the finals )

No body comes close to him when we see his track record as a player, his style of playing, his elegance, his fitness, his temperament, his consistency; head to head records and GS wins are not enough to conclude GOAT; neither Rafa nor Joko or any other player for that matter will be able to achieve what Federer has already achieved a few years back...

Joko will beat Rafa more often from hereon, thats another thing altogether

Re: French Open 2014

Well you can rattle those emotional words like Amritraj but see the facts.. Rafa beat Fed in his backyard Wimbledon n Oz Open in the prime of his career.. Made him cry like a sissy girl even making Rafa feel sorry for him..

Fed recently admitted Rafa will overtake him in number of slams won.. Injuries are a part of life for sportsperson Fed is gifted but Rafa is humble and determined. Imagine Fed was to not play at Center court of wimbledon, the hue and cry he would have raised.. Rafa didnt say a word at French, got down to work

Re: French Open 2014

Factbox - French Open champion Rafa Nadal

PARIS (Reuters) - Factbox on Rafa Nadal who won his ninth French Open title, and record fifth in succession, after beating Serbia's Novak Djokovic 3-6 7-5 6-2 6-4 on Sunday.

MAKING HIS NAME

* Born in Manacor, Mallorca, June 3, 1986.
* His uncle Miguel Angel Nadal had a successful career as a professional footballer, notably for Barcelona and Spain.
* Naturally right-handed, Nadal became left-handed after another uncle Toni Nadal, his coach and mentor, saw it would give him a huge advantage. He turned professional in 2001.

FOURTEEN GRAND SLAM TITLES

* French Open 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, Wimbledon 2008, 2010; U.S. Open 2010, 2013; Australian Open 2009
* Won the French Open on his debut and a year later beat Roger Federer in the final for his second title. In 2007, Nadal became the first man since Bjorn Borg in 1980 to win a hat-trick of Roland Garros titles.
* In 2008 beat then world number one and defending champion Federer to win his first Wimbledon title in one of the greatest matches of all time.
* The following year he beat Federer in the final in Melbourne to become the first Spaniard to win the Australian Open in another classic five-set showdown.
* In 2009 he suffered his first French Open defeat when he lost to Robin Soderling in the fourth round. He came back the next year to regain the title, beating Soderling in the final.
* His fifth French Open title came without the loss of a set and he became the first man to complete the "clay slam", winning the big four clay tournaments in the same season.
* In 2010, he won his first U.S. Open title, becoming the seventh man to win all four grand slam titles.
* Nadal equalled Bjorn Borg's record of six French Open titles in 2011. The seventh, in 2012, ended world number one Djokovic's hopes of holding all four grand slam titles at the same time.
* In 2013, he became the first man with eight titles at the same grand slam tournament when he beat fellow Spaniard David Ferrer in the French Open final. He also won the U.S. Open.
* His 2014 win makes Nadal the first man to win five successive French Open titles. His overall grand slam tally of 14 makes him joint second on the all-time list with Pete Sampras and just three shy of Federer's record haul.

OTHER MILESTONES

* From April 2005 to May 2007, Nadal won a record 81 consecutive matches on clay before losing to Federer. In 2008, he ended Federer's 4-1/2 year reign as world number one.
* Won men's singles gold at the 2008 Olympic Games.

INJURY WOES

* Has had knee troubles. Nadal did not defend his Wimbledon title in 2009, withdrew from the 2010 Australian Open in the quarter-finals and was out for seven months after losing in the second-round of Wimbledon in 2012.
