Re: HAL to make India’s first passenger aeroplane

This is old news - that NAL was building SARAS.
I think we are better off leaving building planes to private sector.
Building an aircraft fuselage is not the same as building an airplane. Engines and Avionics need to designed and built as well. Not sure if NAL is doing it.
Otherwise NAL would be sort of like Dell, the company that brings components from outside and just puts them together.

Re: HAL to make India’s first passenger aeroplane

Six years ago NAL was paying Rs. 5000, consolidated, to a Junior Research Fellow..... and to be a JRF at NAL you had to be a lot more in terms of scientific knowhow...... Wonder if they ever found the right JRFs...... Now if they come up with SARAS or its upgraded version, I seriously doubt if it would be worth trying it.......!!!! Without the right compensation you cant draw the right people...... And even if you manage to woo some they would be a disgruntled lot........ Can they all mange to pull this miracle of making a passenger craft with such a composition of man power....???

Re: HAL to make India’s first passenger aeroplane

Correct my memory, but wast it not the HAL who was trying to build the LCA or some such aircraft? Was it not the HAL who was also trying to build some helicopter?

Naah, leave the aircraft building to Airbus Industrie and Boeing. The HAL employees should just relax and take it easy and keep doing some tin work for the LCA
