Question Visitor visa - too late for India appointment - Kathmandu?

Hi echarchans,
I need to be in the US in the last week of June but the waiting times for interview appointments in the consulates in India is > 98 days.

I also checked and found that this waiting time is 7 days for the kathmandu embassy.

So my question to you is: Does anybody have experience with or know anyone who got a visa from the Kathmandu embassy? I'm a resident Indian citizen, (ie not a resident of Nepal nor a subject of Nepal).

Are one's chances of getting a visitors visa better/worse in Kathmandu than in India or does it make no difference?

Update: my classmate in Kathmandu just gave me an update that the US embasy closed the visa section there due to the insurgency.

Yes true! What about the US embassy at sg? It seems to be very efficient - they even have a walkin facility - do any of you know if it's ok for resident Indians to apply for a visa thru the sg embassy?

Unless its an emergency you will have to go to India based US embassy for visa. Please confirm with a lawyer to be absolutely sure.

98 days for interview and another few weeks for stamping of passport? This is unacceptable ... why dont someone complain?

Complain - who would and to whom? It's not American citizens who have to wait 98 days.

Calm down man.

Its due to increased security measures.
They don't want to take any chances, so they do as much as they can about background check. thats all.

BTW.....If you will go to other country to get US visa.......There are more chance of getting denied than getting one.
