Re: Travelling via London -Transit Visa ?

My mother came here after the liquids incident. She did not have a UK visa. Your dad also does not need a UK visa, if he has a US visa and he has the tickets to show that he intends to travel to the US (which I am sure he does). So I wouldnt worry about what the agents have to say.

I too was surprised .. afterall this is a transit visa only. But itseems they have become a lot more guarded nowadays. As ususal they do not give any exact information except risk of immigration.
Our guess is that my brother had travelled more extensively and that showed on his passport. His wife had not travelled out of India before.

Anyway it was totally unexpected and caused a lot of problems at the last minute. Better to be safe and get in touch with the British embassy.

Rightly stated. A friend of mine too was permitted to step outside London airport on his way to the US based on his US visa.

I've flown to the US mostly via Frankfurt & Amsterdam. Not by BA so far.

Three hours layover ... it will take him an hour to get out of immigration, customs and texi queue ... another hour to get back ... god bless the weather conditions. Unless its important or he knows London ... better stay at the terminal.

Better to be sure and apply for transit visa at the city of origin ...

Dirtybhai ... not your fault ... I am all confused now. Your dad is in transit with three hour stop over in London ... no intentions to step outside of the airport terminal. So why does your dad need a transit visa?

I thought transit visa is to let travellers get in to the city, some sight seeing or attend a meeting or two and rush back to the airport just in time to catch your flight onwards ...

I have missed something ... I know.

BhaYa ... hope your father has a safe journey. Dirtybhai ... enjoy him. Enjoy your father. Make it up to him. Sure he is going to feel happy and fullfilled having done a good job as a father. BhaYa ... your father visits you ... gets to see you prosper ... lives in sons' abode ... gets entertained by his own son ... Dirtybhai, you just dont know how fortunate you are my friend.

Aur sabh theekthaak ... India kaa booth ser pe se uter gaya ... aaj one week se solid food khaya ... teen din pahle (Maxibhai kaa Bagwanji balla kare) muttong khaye and yesterday prawns khaye.
