You have to fill form No 6 at the present city's election office which is mostly at the tehsildar's office.
But always carry with you attested copies as they refuse non attested ones even if you show them the original.

Re: All about Aadhar

sorry for my and

but everytime I hear the words attested and govt gazzeted officer's stamp my blood boils.. Indian documentation system is so lousy. They make you take thumbprint of newborn baby for applying to PIO card. maine aaj tak zindagi me angootha nahi lagaya, and they are making all foreign born desi kids to put angutha, for me a huge sign of oppression.

Thumbprint is must for a child upto the age of 12 even for a passport. And now its compulsory to give your biometric details for passport whether fresh or renewal, irrespective of your age.
And thumb print is the signature until the child learns to sign.

Re: All about Aadhar

But thumbprint BS is no where else, and it has no intelligence, so why the charade. Parents can sign as guardians for kids under 12. I just don't get it.

Let me check if they had Thumbprint in US passport too. And they do take your fingerprints for US visas, GCs, etc.

Re: All about Aadhar

At my memory long back when i wanted to check with a bank, if i could put angootha instead of my sign since my signs never were the same. They said i could not and had to rely on signature..
BTW, in old passport applications you had to put both sign and thumb impression from left hand (perhaps they thought right hand would be dirty from ....)

Re: All about Aadhar

Has there been any improvements in this process? Is it still taking a few months to get Aadhar card?

You get your aadhar number within a week and can get it as a PDF file where your postal pin code would be the password.

Dont wait for the physical Aadhar card,it may not come

Make online appointment https://appointments.uidai.gov.in/
You can enroll for Aadhar from anywhere in India,so see if there is a time slot available at the place you would be traveling.
