Is the glass half full or half empty? An original perspective

People perceive me as a pessimist, whereas I consider myself optimist. Finally, the (other)wise Dhurfucius had a revelation that gave him a deep insight to this confusion of perceptions.

The traditional question that is glass is half full or half empty has four feasible answers that I can now think of.

1) My glass is half full, others' glasses are half full (The optimist)

2) My glass is half full, others' glasses are half empty (Superiority complex)

3) My glass is half empty, others' glasses are half full (Inferiority complex)

4) My glass is half empty, others' glasses are half empty (The pessimist)

So, this also gives us an opportunity to have a poll. Please vote (its anonymous)

and new twists on old feel good stories ...

5) My glass is half empty ... others got no glass (contented)

6) My glass is half full ... I don't give no shit for others (self-centered)

Re: Is the glass half full or half empty? An original perspective

It should be same for everyone.
From what I see, it depends upon the situation. If you are filling the glass and leave it midway then it is half-filled. If you go on filling it to the brim and later you drink/take out half of it then it is half-empty.

It is not point of view but it is the process. If you really are trying to do something and you see half chances and take it. It is 50% prob of success while if you let things happen and go with the flow then it is 50% prob of failure.

World is a shitty place. People who say you can do whaever you want or you can be whatever you want are either plain liars or ignorant. Success stories are a handful, just because they are on TV and papers we think it is possible. There are thousands of dreams dying daily on the streets striving as much hard for success. It is not luck either. There are so many factors, so many levers and even if one of them changes by a second it makes the whole picture look very different.

Re: Is the glass half full or half empty? An original perspective

But isent looking at other persons glass rude? I would never do it because I am self centered, however fear that might make other person uncomfortable if I am looking at his glass to see how empty/full it is

I dont know what to say Chitrala except that life is weird ... very weird ... We had some sense of there being a glass when we were children ... but then we were not so political about it whether it was half full or half empty ... This politics is what has let us down ... All our life we have been running around with a number of glasses ... Most of the time we dont even check whether it is necessary to be carried around ... Even if we check it, we just want to compare it with other glasses ... That is the depth of our contentment ...

Anyways, I love your posts ...

You are not the first and won't be the last among those who suffer of "Bottle Syndrome" and deny very existence of the glass.

Please check now ... Sutradarji ... is it a bottle or glass or both?
