Re: Lousy Desis at workplace

bah, I think the website is rubbish too.
Samsa
In the Turkish-speaking nations where it is called samsa (& variants) it is made both in half-moon shapes and triangles.

next people will claim on the basis of this that Karanji's also originated in arab country. The website seems to derive its conclusions from something called The Oxford Companion to Food - a link that gives 404 error!
According to the “The Oxford Companion to Food” the Indian samosa is merely the best known of an entire family of stuffed pastries or dumplings popular from Egypt and Zanzibar to Central Asia and West China

Re: Lousy Desis at workplace

OK before you all crucify yourself or get horribly knotted..

Lets have some idiocies and the reasons behind them.

Desi folks like to talk in the language of their choice when at work or at a restaurant among themself.. no biggie. It is irritating to the gora but what I do in my personal space is my personal wish. I am not there to fulfill a gora's lust to understand me or my culture when I am off work/topic of work. I have never seen a desi discussing work topics (except if it were a problem he were facing) with another desi in desi lingo. Horribly accented english that sounds out of bizzaro land YES.. otherwise no.

Also, desis being so away from land and homesick (ok ok by chioce) do feel at home when they talk to their collegues in their chosen tongue.

What irks me more is desis pretending to be goras/goris.. won't talk in hindi or indian languages and insist only on speakin g to english even to their dogs.. oh.. baby.. not hear.. go out and play.. even the dog must think dumb ass!!

Why would talk in a hushed tone and still risk being heard by someone or worse, not being heard correctly by the person being spoken to when he has a perfectly good language to express himself herself in loud and clear and still be "unheard" by anyone other than the intended audience.. Irritating? Perhaps foolish no.

eating veggie well I have yet to come across anyone who objects to me eating whatever I feel like eating. If they have a problem, please change the table. i will eat what I feel like.. drink what I fancy and smoke what ever is legal and allowed and if anyone has any problem they ought to find a different place. Of course if I am the guest, If I choose to attend a party, it is the hosts rules I follow not the other way round (and I differ in this aspect with smelly perhaps).

But idiocies are thousands everywhere.. Arabs will have some jews would not eat anything NOT kosher.. How irritating it is for a jewish gora to be with you.. dunking and drinking all kinds of silly potent liquor and when you present him with a chicken wing or a potato fritter exclaim.. is it kosher? What the fukk is kosher anyway.. you are killing the animal.. how much it suffered or how its neck was slashed matters? Not to me.. to the animal may be but it is not there to complain.

I have other idiocies of desis but I only laugh at those as I would at an innocent child. THey do not know.. simple.. INdian life is simple life in india we live for ourself.. in phoren you live and dress or undress for others.. me I say fukk you.

Yes I have problem with these kinds of idiots..

Ohh we don't eat onions or garlic.. damn.. half of my recipies are out of the window already.. dal rice or curd rice for you. Thank you.

Re: Lousy Desis at workplace

Dekh naa yaar.. life is as it is complicated living by our OWN set of rules.. now you have to live by someone elses set of rules? As for that post about a surd bringing smelly food.. a point to note is he is USED to that smell and that smell does not register in his head (surd head and tied in turbam and yup it is a dig at melly you surd.. call me madrasi but I am a TSFS remember?). YOu are getting irritated by that smell take the onus upon you and tell him dude what ever you have got for lunch you should may be eat it in solitary.. it has a rather strong aroma which might not be welcome to amrus who are not used to potent spices.. you won't put him off and yet get the message across.. No one seems to complain when chinese get BOILED CABBAGE to work.. oh they eat it so sophisticatedly with that never controlable chopsticks is it? It still stinks.. don't believe me? Try this.. put about 1 glass of water in a bowl.. put some cabbage.. about 3 or 4 leaves should do.. put it in a rice cooker (any kind) and let it boil.. your house will stink like you forgot to flush your toilet and left the door open.

And funny part is, that same bloke will go to a desi restaurant and order SURD food.. paneer tikka masala for me.. and tandoori rotis please..

I hate when people sterotype.. if someone's food stinks.. he does not realize it.. ever thought of a fish market? See these very goras smell the "aroma" of fish and go.. "aah that smells fresh.." or bongs? well they like the aroma.. they grew up with it.. for me it is a vile smell (I am non veg but no fish.. I am allergic).. so whose problem is it? MINE not the gora or bongs. To them it smells like calvin klein.. not to me.. I will positively aphixiate in west bengal or kerala.

It is just like this.. to everyone the other person "smells" "he ought to nuse a deo" dumb ass you are smelling him thru the deo.. schmuck.. what should he do.. marinate himself in those CKs or Axe or Palmolive? And I got news for you.. you TOO smell only difference is the other person has class and so is not being snooty about it. He has respect for you inspite of the smell.. learn something. You smell positively fragnent to yourself even after 15 days of not showering.. not to others. Remember your own shit or fart always smells OK compared to others.
