Passport Renewal in the US from Indian Consulate in NY

I have to renew my passport .. Unfortunately, I have send it by mail ... I dont want to travel to NY, although it is just 4hrs from my place here ...

I have some questions about some entries that I have to fill in the form:

Quote:
19.(a) PRESENT EMIGRATION STATUS *ECR/ECNR** ______________ (please present documentary evidence,
such as copy of degree/green card). *Emigration Check Required; **Emigration Check Not Required.
I dont have a green card from the US (although my company has filed for one). I live in the US. I have a green card from Canada.

So do I need to have an ECR or do I qualify for ECNR?

No, my university was near Canada and when 9/11 happened, the first thing my Gujarati friends did was to apply for immigration to Canada ...I did the same ... fortunately before we could apply, the Canadians came looking for us in our university ... they gave a seminar about Canada, and the prospects anyone can have ...

I applied at that time ... got it in a year ... no interviews ... nothing ...

how so? I usually used to walk out 30 minutes early (except in case of Dynamics of Machinery and Electrical Technology where graphical methods took much time)...maybe you don't even know what graphical methods are..being part of a younger generation

Were you taught graphical methods for velocity and acceleration of crank slider mechanisms, and Kapp diagram for electrical transformers in your undergrad years? just curious
