Chicken Biryani: 15 mins :P

Soak 1 Cup Basmati rice in water for 15 mins.

meanwhile, marinate: 1 lb chicken (small pieces) with 1/4C mint, 2 slit green chili, fried onions 3 tbsp, biryani masala 1.5 tbsp, salt 1.5 tbsp, ginger and garlic paste 3 tsp, yogurt 1 cup.

In a 2 litre pressure cooker, add 1/4 cup water, 1 tbsp ghee. Spread half the quantity of chicken in the cooker, spread drained rice over chicken, spread the remaining half of the chicken. Close and cook on high for 5 whistles. Let the pressure settle, open and serve with raita.

Re: Chicken Biryani: 15 mins :P

Tried it today. Turned out to be "not bad". My wife liked it though.

Step where I went wrong was to not pay attention to proportion in quantity. I just went with my gut feeling. Since I was cooking biryani for the first time, my gut feeling was a bit off. Next time I expect to be better.

One great thing about this recipe is that it is time saving.

Glad your wife liked it. Where did you go wrong in terms of proportions? spices or Chicken? Just follow exactly what I said and it will turn out perfect. As a matter of fact, I marinate chicken (excluding yogurt) during the weekend and if I need to make it during the weekday, its quite literally 2 mins prep time for me as I simply soak rice and add yogurt and thats it.

Spices quantity is what I did not calculate correctly.
