Hindus don't eat beef because ....

... they regard cows as sacred - like mother because cows give milk. Muslims don't eat pigs because they belive that pigs are dirty.

Even Jews don't eat pork (of couse the orthodox types).

it is not only belief but reality. PIGS ARE DIRTY.

of course unless you grow them on a farm under strict diet control. But by nature, pigs will eat SHIT of other animals amongst other dirty things - SO say NO to PORK

typically hindus tend to vegetarian. india has the largest number of vegetarians in the world. but in hinduism there is no ban or fatwa on anything. a hindu can eat beef if he wants to. nobody is going to stop him. ahimsa and vegetarian food are strongly recommended not enforced

HOLY COW!

HINDU DIET CODE:
Divided in to three categories:
SATVIC: food does not agitate stomch at all. Most of satvic food consissts of fruits, nuts and vegetables. The foods that are suppossed to produce calmness and nobility among men.
RAJASTIC: Food that consists of animals. Also food that consists of spices, onions, garlic, hot peppers, pickles, Produces activity and strong emotional qualities among men.
TAMASIC: The worst food of all. Left over, contaminated. Food that produces jealousy and greed among men.
---------
COW:
When the Aryans settled in India, the cow was the first and only animal they had domesticated. In the vedic age cows were a real blessing to the community at large. Cows provided them with milk, butter and yogurt
and MEAT. The dead cow's skin was used to make shelters and clothing.

So the community in Vedic age was indebted to the the Cow in many ways. This later made them regard cow with devotion and motherhood.

Cow's milk is as soothing on a child's system as a mother milk. Same cannot be said of goat or sheep' milk. Besides one has no way of knowing how many of Aurangias or his fellow Pakistanis have been inside
goat and sheep.

MYTHOLOGY speaks of cow named KAMDHENU which could grant and fullfill one's wishes.

Lord Krishna was a cowherd and he spent most of his childhood and youth taking care of cows.

As time passed Cows were looked upon as symbol of motherhood.

Our Sage Manu forbids slaughtering of Cows and makes reference to cow with devotion.

Many of us are surprised to learn that abstaining from meat is more of a Buddhist aand Jainist idea then Hindu idea, I think.

Our Bhagwad Gita contains no specific injuction agt eating meat. The Cows mentioned in Rig Veda as "AGHNYA" or meaning not for killing are milking cows.

In Ramayana, among several refrences to shikar/killing of animals for consumption; there is also mention of Sage Agasthya who ate a ram so that he could annihilate the ddemon Vatapi.

In Mahabharta there are several refrences to eating meat. Meat of all sorts appears during the wedding of Panjali .

It is during and after the birth of Budddhism and Jainism, that Puranas started to forbid Hindus from consumption of any meat products, I think.
-------
PORK:
Pig is one of the dirtiest animal. It eats and wallows in its own ....shit. Pores deep inside a Pigs skin and specially behind knuckles/legs are filled with .......... which smells as filthy as Aurangis toilet. Alive or dead if you feel/press certain parts of pigs body the ......... oozes out.
------
Considering high blood. cholestrol and heart problems being a vegetarian is a good option...
