**** 1992 was from a road stand in Orissa. One guy actually charged 40p. Even in Hyderabad, prices vary a lot. It is 30 rupees for a 6 plate in Central and 20 Rs for an 8 plate in Big Bazaar.

Do not understand what the confusion is. Early to id-nineties were the beginning of globalization. Of course, prices would be lower in remote, non-developed and developing countries before globalization... and world-prices would spread and even out all across the world after globalization. The word globalization effectively means that. It was made out to be the best thing since sliced bread by most economists... but economists are generally poor people who have no real sense of what economy means. They are not far-sighted people

Of course there are still some places left that are not much touched by globalization. These are the last few heavens that people seek out for vacations. But don't think these will hold out much longer either. Enjoy what we can today... do not wait to retire and visit all those exotic but cheap places.
