Hasn't Ludlum stopped writing. I find that all new books (the Bourne series) under his name are actually written by someone else. Read a couple and didn't like them as much as the original.

Hmm.. I just found out - you are right. Ludlum has stopped writing .. because he is dead! And apparently Bancroft Strategy was "written by an unknown ghost writer who has been faithful to Robert Ludlum's style of writing" (according to wikipedia)

I read Greg Iles book The Spandau Phoenix and enjoyed it immensely. It was like those Len Deighton, Ken Follet, Robert Ludlum, Fredrick Forsyth classics.

I am now going to locate Black Cross and read it.

Ludlum is inimitable. Infact the great master attributed one of his plots - getting a fake passport - to his hero Fredrick Forsythe. Forsythe had shown a technique on getting a real passport by providing false information in his classic Day Of The Jackal.

I think Eric Van Lustbader writes the Ludlum novels. Its written so on the novels.

Sadly, the studios converted Jason Bourne into a Jason Stratham Transporter kind of character and the movies became just action and car chases. The real conspiracy and secret plots and all sort of things that make Ludlum great are lost.

I have stopped reading Ludlum after his last novel. I dont care for the new ones. I tried a new one and found it very different. Its like its written for a movie. Sucks.

I read one more such author 'The Last Templar'. Book began well and the plot seemed good. But then it was more like a screenplay for an action movie. Just this week NBC showed a special made for TV version of this book. Very boring and a rip off of Indiana Jones.

Re: What book are you all reading?

I hate self-help, motivational and inspirational books...I hate their titles even more...Can't they keep a simple title.

here are a few : I'm ok you're ok, who'll cry when you'll die, you can win, how to win friends and influence people, count your chicken before they hatch...

and thet are filled in with more crap. I'll prefer a self-styled guru any day to these sukkkers at least gurus are funny and they tell a lot of stories.

Don't know about many of those titles as I have not read many of such books except for one, "How to win friends and incluence people", has to be the best of those. Read it a long time back and my thinking changed with it. Before that I used to be angry at the world... after that I'm not any more

Re: What book are you all reading?

I don't read. Reading is what you common and ordinary do.

I grasp the essence behind the written words. Written words lead me in to the inner depths of a writer's soul and sentiments.

I don't read. Reading is what you common and ordinary do.

Change the title and I tell you.
