As Almighty, Ram knew everything before hand, so all this charade was just to lead a life of example with the main aim being destruction of Ravan and asuras in the south.. all those south indians I tell you..

From the little I understand of these mythological stories, Ravan's intention was never to take revenge on Ram. Agreed that it was his original intent. However, when he saw Sita, his lust overtook his commonsense, as is the case in case of most men. If he was thinking with his brain instead of his little-brain, he probably would have left Sita alone and caught Ram by surprise and take revenge, avenging his sister's disfigurement.

Bottom line is that, his measured revenge didnt really fetch him anything and he has grossly under-estimated lord Ram's capacity.
Never give time to your enemy to formulate a strategy. Catch them by surprise.

maybe Laxman cut her nose because it was long, strong and flexible like an elephant's trunk---and she posed mortal danger with her 'nose'!
Laxman was kind hearted; so he made her into a harmless maiden by cutting off her most dangerous part.

I think this incident was the very first documented action against eve-teasing.. Shrupnakha had magical powers so she could have repaired her nose but instead chose to make a mountain out of a molehill

why half-rakshas part was more dominant in Ravan and brother and sisters than Brahmanical?

I am not parroting. Really, the reasoning I gave sounds reasonable and more likely.
I am not changing tracks. I still maintain that what Ravan did was wrong.

I don't think so the reasoning makes sense at all.

If Ravan really lusted for Sita , he could have very easily finished Ram off at Chitrakutt and make do with Sita . Who would have stopped him after he killed Ram ?

Ravan definitely did not underestimate Rams power with the Supernikha's episode. Even if he did he was a warrior . He was smart enough to understand the art of war "Never leave a lion wounded".

Kidnapping for revenge seems the most likely scenario here .

No Jai, if he was smart enough understand that he should not leave a lion Unwounded, he wouldn't have kidnapped Sita. He knew lord Ram would come for her. And he did underestimate Lord Ram. He was arrogant. If he were not, he would've killed Lord Ram when he had the chance and then had her way with Sita. This what it looks like t me.

he was under the influence of ego and power.. when he started to lose his territory and family members, he came to a stage he could not retract from.

Ravan.. his ego drowned him, his whole family and Lanka's masses. He defeated Indra once and that got to his head.

Look at the uncanny resemblance. Lord Ram also lost his territory (well, taken away would be the right thing to say) and his family members....so I got a little confused.

Re: Ram used to eat non-veg and sita drank wine --party time !!

Ravan was also on mission to destroy the growing Rakshas power covertly. So, in fact, he and Ram conspired to make Ramayan. This is evident when Ram let Ravan go when the first time Ravan got into battlefield to get a decisive victory. Ram could have made him a prisoner then and taken Sita, and return to complete his vanvas and be back in Ayodhya...

but no, Ram let him go...Ravan got the message so sent Kumbhkarna and Indrajit to insure that no real Rakshas threat remained for a long time

Then how come Ravans story got such negative publicity. If what you are saying is truth, Ravan really was at the wrong end of the deal.
