Question

Just read an interesting news item. The question is "Will friendship festivals help India and Pak see eye to eye?"

One point is that if you can befriend your enemy and bury the hatchet, then its a maillion times better than having to fight a war and bring your enemy down to his knees and make him see your point!

But does Pak deserve such noble gestures on our part?

Please share your opinions

Here is that news item:
==========================================
A festive route to greater Indo-Pak goodwill
============================================
A festival to promote people-to-people relations between India and Pakistan opened at this joint check post on the Indo-Pakistan Border) on Wednesday.

The Indo-Pak Punjabi friendship festival is commemorating those one million innocent Punjabis, who were killed during the communal disturbances of 1947. It is aimed at assuaging the feelings of those families and individuals on both sides of the border, who lost their near and dears in the communal frenzy of 1947 festival organizers, the Folklore Research Academy, Chandigarh said.

The festival opened after a friendship caravan, which was flagged off from the Jallianwala Bagh earlier in the day, reached Wagah.

According to Dr Tara Singh Sandu, Academy president, a resolution was passed at the festival calling upon both Pakistan and India to sink their differences and live like good neighbors.

The resolution noted that the precious money, which both nations were spending to upgrade their respective defense structures, could well be diverted for developmental purposes and for raising the living standards of the poorer sections of society on either side of the border, who are the worst sufferers of the ongoing tension.

Another resolution called for closer interaction between the people of the two Punjabs. The resolution noted that the culture of the two Punjabs was inseparable and hence Governments of the two countries should relax their visa policies to allow the people to pay frequent visits.

A show focusing on the rich culture and heritage of Punjab was also organized on the occasion.

No Not at all

How much times we Indians will be fooled.When the people must be enjoying Kadhayi Chicken,Chicken Tikka with Pakistaneese ,some 10 soldiers on our borders have been killed.
We Indians give least regard to our soldiers,we take them forgranted,that since they are paid they had to die and become sacrifical lambs for the terrorists.If things like this continue i fear one day our army might revolt.
Look at the way the Israielis and the USA respect their soldiers.We neglect the sufferings of soldiers and some
selfish and greedy "intellectuals" like Pankaj Mishra and Kuldeep Naiyar show their brilliance by denouncing Indian Army.It is a fact that when our PM took a bus to Lahore they were planning Kargil which killed nearly 500 of our soldiers.
It is ver easy to sit and talk about Indo-Pak cooperation with a sip of Coffee.I will request you to go to some Pakistani forums like http://www.paknews.com and your eyes will be opened.
Pakistanis consider themselves as rulers of hindus for 800 years,they are never going to change their mindset.they are
never going to give equal status to hindus.they are still living in the medival period.
