Re: What to look for when buying a watch?

Jagmohan, thanks for the links, let me take a look. I am not really looking into going to places like Macy's. Maybe will buy online. Thanks.

Amthaji, you are right, maybe I am thinking too much. Its not like I am spending $3000. Lol

Kalidas, thanks. Like I said, I am not really thinking about spending a fortune on watch/ time piece. But let me take a look at Swiss Army, thanks for the suggestion.

Charchila/ sgars, I did not know something called a smart watch existed!

You have the company of Cyber coolies like me and Cyber Maaliks too.

Azim Premji reportedly drives / drove a Toyota and one friend of mine remembers seeing Nandan Nilekani sporting a Reynolds pen.

You better listen to Amtha, Dirty, and the rest. They buy gifts for 'their' men all the time ... they know what 'their' men like.

I have never bought a man a gift in my life. I buy for women. But here is what I am thinking ...

Depends who is da man.
Husband? Let sucker buy his own ...
Fiance? Buy him expensive watch. Sucker will regret anyway for the rest of his natural life ...
Male colleague or friend? Buy him a $10 watch or else his wife/fiancee will be angry at you. Believe you me (Queen's English) ... You don't want an angry wife knocking at your door ...

there is a thread in the archives ... several married women went to Dirty and Amtha's work places to 'fight' due to some misunderstanding. Women thought Dirty and Amtha were trying to steal their husbands by giving gifts and branded watches.

edit/add ... I am seriously serious.

Thanks!
Those not punctual types get watches as gifts from females
Search for HMT watches something unique and antique also.

Re: What to look for when buying a watch?

Buying a watch is a simple matter. First, make sure that it is titan, sonata, fasttrack or anyother Indian company bcoz you should love India. Then check if it is easy to see the time. Give preference to fashion, style and color. It shouldn't have warranty bcoz if so you can't buy another if you are bored of it. Never mind if it is cheap. Buy me a costly one with the remaining money. That's all I know.

Re: What to look for when buying a watch?

Who even wears a watch these days? Cell phones tell the time .. One is more likely to pull out their cell phone from the pocket and see it rather than just look at their wrist watch on the same hand

I always wear a watch to work .. I like chronographs, have 3/4 good watches .. May buy a Rado soon

I've heard old HMT watches in good condition are going for decent prices in India .. They've become collectors item now

I ended up buying new winter tires for him, which he had been putting off.

Perhaps for Christmas I will buy a watch.
