Thumbs up Building Temple

As I mentioned earlier too somewhere that we are in process of building a Hindu Temple ( Sanatan Mandir ) in our city.

All suggestions and recommendations are welcome.

Inputs I ll need for

1. Vaastu recommendations
2. Secutiry ( CCTV, alarms etc.. )
3. Murti Pran Pratishtha
4. Sponsering a pandit

Re: Building Temple

Land has been bought for mandir ( one acre )

Building will be around 2000 sq ft.

first floor idea is foyer, restrooms, place for shoes/jacket, one room for storage of computer server + papers+upcoming events info+ books + stuff for puja.
AND a big HALL

Basement will have restrooms, kitchen, eating area and another storage for flour, utensils, spices etc.

... funds for building it has been arranged/pledged. Some plans are there for day to day running of the mandir too.

I really think you should check with a professional for all this. This seems a bit complicated thing to take our general opinion.

no offense, but building a temple needs to be done accurately via vedic guidelines, not via opinions of forum members, nai kya?

I am not talking about CCTV. Even that, if its for commercial purpose, you wil have to fulfill the building permit regulations. I am sure you knew this.

Regarding Vaastu recommendations, why don't you get someone physically check it for you at the temple site? Usually it is recommended that temples need to have perfect vastu. I think it would be a mistake to take vastu recommendation from someone with out "full" knowledge of how it works, especially for a temple.

Regarding Murti Prathishta also, as far as my knowledge goes, several yagnas are performed before you do this. My in-laws have done this in Chennai and trust me, its not simple. It is an elaborate event. It is also believed that if you do not do pooja's/yagnam the way you are supposed to do, your family would be cursed or something like that for generations. Thats why people go for experienced opinion when it comes to murti prathishta. Temple constrution/murti specifications etc shoud go according to some vedic principles.

If you think its not complicated, then I am sure someone will come up with some general suggestion. But I really think you should go for professional advice.

Re: Building Temple

Sahi bol rahe hai sab Premi, Neem hakeem khatre jaan. Just get some general ideas from here, but only trust a specialist. Also, as Rakhi said, you will need permissions from various government authorities, a local architect should be able to guide you on that.

u r talking AN ACRE man. sound grand

take advice here, thats ok. lekin ekdum grand bana dega sirf idhar ki advice pe, i dont think that u r thinking that way. ghar ke ganpati staphna tak theek hai.

purely based on advice here - build a temple for echarchns with u as kaamdev's kaliyug avtar etc. calls for a seperate thread perhaps

okay here is the story:

Land has been purchased by few of us after much struggle with the city and neighbors ( it was rejected twice ) now zoning has been done for commercial for the land. We are talking to a few builders for the constructions tenders. This weekend we invited some of the member of management from other temple we are visiting right now from few hundreds miles away for their expert comments.

Will ask them the vedic guidelines for building a temple. Just found a chart of vaastu

And one more

Re: Building Temple

All I can say one acre land is not enough.

Think about parking too. If you plan to rent out the hall or let ppl do 'shaadi" etc, you will need more parking spaces.

Here in Chicago area this is huge problem at couple of temples.

Iskon tempel is even worst in that way. only street side parking.

The newer ones have huge parking space.

Vaastu is what we are more concerned about right now cos we have to tell these gora builders, I have called the blueprints from the temple from the management people are coming and one ISKCON temple in next city. Then we ll decide what should be the design for our temple.

CCTV off course there are big guidelines from the city for it but I installed for my home 8 cameras and I think same I ll need in that temple (4 outside and 4 inside), bigger cameras and better resolutions though and major backup.

Another thing which is bothering us this time is whether to have an elevator or a ramp for elderly or disable people. We for sure will have couple of wheel chairs. Elevator for only one floor is costly but it ll bring more devotees to the temple.

Murti pratishtta is something for sure we ll call the experts from Chicago and New Jersey. I personally spoke to couple of them who are willing to come.

Whatever you guys think should be taken care of based on your own experiences in temple please let me know. It will be great help for sure.
