Unhappy Rs 90,000 cr in Padmanabhaswamy temple. What next?

Who say India is a poor country....??

As the treasure chests open in Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple, debate sparks on how to safeguard the treasure considering its immense historical and cultural values

Even as priceless treasures found from cellars of Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple in Kerala is estimated to be around Rs 90,000 crore, the discovery has sparked a debate on how to protect and preserve the royal legacy which has surpassed everyone's imagination.
Opening of the long-locked chambers, on Supreme Court orders, which began on June 27 has so far revealed a large number of gold ornaments, gold and silver coins, stone studded crowns, idols and figurines inlaid with precious stones and jewels.
The exercise to assess the value of the articles, undertaken by a seven-member panel of observers, including two former high court judges, continues on Monday after a day's breather on Sunday.

Re: Rs 90,000 cr in Padmanabhaswamy temple. What next?

From wikipedia, -

The Travancore royal family style themselves as Padmanabha Dasas or servants of Padmanabha since 1750 when Maharajah Marthanda Varma made over the state to the deity of the Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple and vowed that from that that day on, the royal family would rule the state on behalf of Him. The title of Padmanabha Dasa is prefixed to the name of every Travancore King while females call themselves Padmanabha Sevinis. This important donation of the state to the temple was known as Thripadidanam. The British government accorded the Maharajah of Travancore a high 19 gun salute, whereas for all temple festivals, the highest salute of 21 guns was fired.

One more interesting fact abt the royal family is that in line with Kerala's matriarchal tradition the heir would be the eldest son/daughter of the eldest daughter or Maharani. They claim descent from the ancient Chera dynasty.

We must appreciate the fact that they kept these invaluable treasures safely and did not squander them on living a life of luxury; some of these vaults were not opened for last 130 years. Also, in the good old days the Raja's treasure would hv been used for the people in times of famine or floods or other calamities so this would hv been like the central bank of the state. I hope these historical items are kept safely and not stolen or appropriated by govt. The temple management that was under the royal family was being taken over by the state govt after a court case. Many rich temples in South India (dont know about North) such as Sabarimala and Tirupati are administered by the state's Muzrai dept under the Hindu Endowments acts and the proceeds from the `hundi` are appropriated by the department. In case of Kerala which depends from remittances from Middle East for its `money order` economy this could be an important source of income. In Karnataka when CM Yeddyurappa released some important temples from clutches of Muzrai dept, the officials' objection was towards loss of revenue.

From TOI, -

Call it the mother of all treasure hunts. The stock-taking by a panel of experts at the Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple has catapulted the shrine located in Thiruvananthapuram to the country's richest, with reports claiming that the value of recoveries may have touched close to Rs 1 lakh crore, more than Kerala public debt of Rs 70,969 crore.

Narayanan said there were specific documents called 'Mathilakam records' which speak about the history of the shrine and about how the assets came into it. "The temple has been known since the 9th Century and figures in the writings of that time. Native ruler of Travancore (then pricely state) Marthanda Varma had given away all the wealth to the deity and ruled the kingdom as the Lord's agent."

"Travancore was a very prosperous state and with its port facilities, traded in spices, sandalwood and ivory. The foreign currency recovered from the vaults may have come in through the trade route," he added.

let me start then.. Government is tactically exposing the Hindu temples and babas to divert attention from the most corrupt rule in Indian history. What about the funding received by Christian girjaghars around the country ? ? ?.. somebody should audit their money trail.

that is against secularism
in india, being secular means bashing hindus. unless you bash hindus and admit that temple loving hindus are saffron terrorist you are not a secular.
