Re: Some Good News! I have become UpaShastri
Dirty,
I am studying a whole range of ancient languages. I am going back in time. There was a time when people wrote words all joined up. Because the "space separating two words" was an idea not yet invented. I have read in Latin pieces written before the pronouns - he, she, it were invented. Go back further to ancient Egyptian - the "vowels" were not invented. They wrote "Dirty" and "Doroty" the same - they had an ingenious way to distinguish between the two. Go back further and you go to Proto-Indo-European. You go to a time when VERBS were not invented. They had one syllable words for things, and used expressions to convey. "Ra" was sun. "Ga" was go. When a man died it was "Ra Ga" - The "sun in his life has gone" Gu was darkness. So Gu was also cave. Who led you from darkness to the sun - GuRa or GuRu. The "Ra" of sun/soul is still there in Rooh(soul), Ruhani shaktiyaan (dark powers). Next time you have Rooh Afza, remember you are unknowingly remembering an ancestor who lived 20,000 years ago, who saw a loved one die and shouted in anguish "Ra - Ga" This is the story of humans. Our story. But this is just half the story. Just as one language dominated the northern hemisphere, one language dominated the Southern hemisphere - Proto-Tamil/Proto African, whatever you call it. Tamil is atleast 2000 years older than Sanskrit - probably more. It has been relegated to the background because of political history. My regret is that I would never be able to study it. To study the southern history would mean studying at least 10 Tamil/African languages. I just can't do that. Studying the Northern languages would completely exhaust me. Will take at least 7 more years. That is what I am doing. I don't know whether I will succeed or not. The enterprise boggles me. I am taking it a day at a time man. |

Re: Some Good News! I have become UpaShastri
I have read several stuff in their original documents. Our history is completely wonked up. Leftists have completely screwed up our history.
One common thing going around is how the upper castes have screwed the tribals (I am talking about STs and not SCs). That is all hogwash. The STs have really created hell on upper castes and have been cruel. When I say it there is disbelief. But it is true. The farming community was well settled. Why would they go and harass the tribals who had nothing? Land was freely available to anyone ready to till it. The farming community was tied to the land and was easy prey to the tribals. They would attack at will and loot and rape. It was like Gengis Khan except for the scale. Many many times they have attacked. Whole cities were ruined in their cruelty. Farming communities could not hit back. They could not go into the forests. The tribals had to only destroy standing crop in the night and the farmers died of starvation. Year after year, for several millenia the farming community was troubled and destroyed. Yet they held on. They learnt to build forts. They learnt to make chariots and tamed horses enabling to deflect and attack on the farms at night due to rapid deployment. They created watch towers. They created distance weapons (bow and arrow). It was at least 5 millenia of tyranny that they suffered. There were several attempts at trying to "civilize" the tribals. Sometimes they succeeded. Usually they failed. The tribals did not have the self discipline necessary to make the shift. In a farming community you need to have repeated work. They could not. I can go on and on. But a view has come that we screwed the tribals and that is why they need reservation. We did not screw them. They screwed us. If you want to give them reservations to "upgrade them", do so. But why make us the villains? |

Re: Some Good News! I have become UpaShastri
You have heard of a phrase "Andher Nagari Chaupat Raja, Takaa Ser Bhaajee Taka Ser Khaja?"
I'll tell you the story behind it. Once a king (300 AD) and his philosophers decided to eradicate poverty. Why should the sweet-meat seller be richer than the vegetable vendor? All should be equal. So they passed a rule that all prices, sweet-meats and vegetables should be same!! It was enforced by soldiers who too had bought in to the philosophy. Result was this - the sweet meat sellers lost money as they were not even getting their cost price. Vegetables were expensive for people to afford. Sweet meat sellers stopped working and moved to another line. People refused to buy vegetables. So another rule - a sweet meat seller HAD to sell sweets. Vegetable vendors were forced to reduce price of vegetables to attract customers. But that was illegal - so bribe the policeman. Police collected bribe from sweet-meat seller too. Productivity collapsed by unnecessary interference. Had this story been told by historians, would we have accepted socialism? Would we have stuck to a system that kept us shackled to poverty? You think socialism is new? Julius Ceaser did land reforms. All lands mortgaged to/seized by the moneylender was given back. People were happy. Then money lenders refused to give credit on land feeling that they will lose in the end. All credit flow stopped. The farmers had to sell the land to raise money. They were not allowed to work as tenant farmers because the new owner feared that "land to the tiller" would come. So he hired slaves to do the work. A time came that to be a poor Roman was a curse. You got no job - slaves did it all. You got no place to stay on rent, as owners felt that the govt would pass rule giving land to tenants. Slums started. Rome began its collapse. We were not told all this by historians. But those in Mumbai and Delhi can testify to the fact that slums are due to rent-control act. |

Re: Some Good News! I have become UpaShastri
I have personally been against the femlib. I have been accused on this site that I am facing a broken heart. But fem-lib is not new. At least a thousand civilizations had tried it before. Every time society reaches a certain level of stability and safety, women start fem-lib (Before that they are content to let men do the work)
When Rome had no-fault divorces and harsh alimony laws they got more than what they bargained for. Women thought that men would always need women. Wrong! The womb is expensive but not infinitely so. When the cost of sex became too high, men went elsewhere. They made holes in trees for sex and used cotton or olive leaves as a lacing for lubrication. They invented. They went up to use sheep intestine. Finally they used grap leaves laced with opium. That was the turning point. Grape leaves laced with opium became so potent and luxurious that there was no going back. Men preferree that to actual women. Even if the laws changed men would still stick to tree holes with grapeleaf opium!!! No one cared for women. Govt started a Bachelor Tax. Men ran away from Rome. Then Rome fell. We see it happening in modern times. In Romania, because of harsh rape laws men gave up sex. They had a bachelor tax till as late as 1989. It did not help. In Western world men are trying to create sex dolls. With "lacing" technology, it is a matter of time that they will prove to be better than women. Then there will be all hell to play. I am shouting and shouting and no one is listening. My views are shaped by having many example in history in front of me. When the Maurians under Buddhist influence tried this, they created such a anti-sex feeling that sex had to be advertised through temple statues. Pay heed or pay the consequences |

Re: Some Good News! I have become UpaShastri
Napolean,
Here is some interesting info for you. The oldest hindu text is the Rg Veda. Do you know where it was first written? Answer - Syria. Rg Ved was first written in Syria in the Mittani script, long before even Devanagri script was invented. Indians have ignored it, but Germans have gone ahead with it. Syria had a RgVedic Sanskrit culture that was truly vibrant. They had their own literature and drama, as good as Kalidas. Just because the country is different (non Indian), script is different, and Syria today is a Muslim country, it is given short shift by Indians. I canniot change the govt attitude, but I can and will be reading their literature. |

Re: Some Good News! I have become UpaShastri
Napolean,
Another interesting info for you - Azeem Qureshi was a great Koranic scholar. He wanted to understand the finer points of the Qoran from a man considered the greatest Quoranic scholar of the time. Do you know Who that was? - Thomas Jefferson!! Jefferson's interpretation of Quoran is still available in book stores. Muslims will never agree, and neither will the Americans, but the guiding idea behind the Declaration of Independence was the Quoran. I personally read the declaration as a sacred and spiritual document. The fundamental idea behind the Quoran is surrender - to the will of Allah. All human troubles stem from our need to control. But we can only control so much. It is senseless to use force to control every aspect of life, for life is not a machine but is organic. Jefferson thought about it and declared, "if govt decides when to sow and when to reap, we will all surely starve". The idea of freedom is a part of that doctrine, Govt abhorring control. |

You are saying that TJ understood the finer points of the book of peace and then realizing that it indicates total control then helped author something that will be totally in contrast to that... so that the idea of freedom is developed. True? If so then we are on the same page and we can agree on this concept. If you are saying that the idea of total surrender will help... and this way everyone can surrender to a central rule... and TJ used this concept to form the DoI so that the american people can be controlled fully then I can easily disagree... and prove that this is not the case but the exact opposite.
