Re: Government's outlay for defence in military budget dashes hopes for military modernisation
Filters make you read things in wrong way .. y’all keep falling prey to congressi leftist media for decades. Eat this :
Has amt of budget and GDP increased or not? The total defence outlay of Rs 2.94 lakh crore is a hike of 7.81% compared to the allocation made to the MoD last year. While this was an increase from last year and was 12.1% of the Central government’s total expenditure, the defence budget’s share of the GDP is at the lowest it has ever been since the 1962 war between India and China. I have said this to many folks, this budget tamasha and speculation by nincompoops doesn’t help our nation one bit. Last edited by sarv_shaktimaan; February 1st, 2018 at 10:00 PM. Reason: Typo |

be it the tharki chacha saying no to volkswagon beetle production in India, or his defunding of millitary and converting OFB's to make coffee percolates. Every step of his was a mess for India. that SOB nehru was spending 26,000 rs/day from govt treasury but when he came to open the dorms(hostels) for REC warangal, he saw that the showers were equipped with geysers for hot water and asked the dean to close them down as we are a poor country and that hot water was a luxury. The hot water facility was built by the foreign country(i think it was either Gernamy or US) which collaborated with Indian govt. Their idea was to give the students a taste of what it is like to live like western countries and what to aim for. Mofo nehru wanted to live like a king and was in process of building an opulent white house like building for him self, but could not bear the thought of students having hot water geysers.

THere is a similar story from my alma mater also. he saw hostel rooms and told that they were too big for students and the next hostels had the rooms split into two. But if you look at it from another angle, he did build those colleges.

Re: Government's outlay for defence in military budget dashes hopes for military modernisation
Post Rajiv Gandhi I don't have any hopes from Congress. And if even a nationalistic government does not give more money for defence then India will never become a major military power.

A nationalistic government has to put it's money where it's mouth is. A considerable increase in defence budget was expected from a government claiming nationalism as it's forte . But nothing such has happened.

Re: Government's outlay for defence in military budget dashes hopes for military modernisation
2.5 percent of the GDP . Even in the TOI article
( whose link is given in the first post of this thread ) 2.5 percent of the GDP is thought as ideal figure. It will make India a major military power.

This article speaks about the measures India must take to respond to Pakistan's repeated violations of the LOC. But these measures require more funds that only increase in defence budget will provide.
