Reading the book 'Dragon on our doorstep' in the midst of confrontation with China

I am reading the newly released book 'Dragon on our doorstep' by Indian journalists Praveen Sawhney and Ghazala Wahab . Both are editors of FORCE magazine on defence and security issues . Needless to say , my interest in buying it was aroused due to the ongoing India China confrontation in Sikkim . My interest was also aroused because it has been praised in reviews of it by various magazines and newspapers .

While the title is China centric , the book actually deals with the threat both from Pakistan and China . And the book paints a grim scenario vis a vis Pakistan . It plainly says that India cannot defeat Pakistan in war . It says that while India has built military force ( like buying war waging equipment ) it has failed to build military power---that is actually combining the war waging equipment for a real war . On the other hand Pakistan has built real military power with the equipment at it's disposal .

The book says that the Indian army has developed a defensive mindset with the various insurgencies it has to combat and many soldiers are used only to fight insurgencies rather than real war . On the other hand Pakistani soldiers are trained to fight real war .

Also it says that since the Babri mosque demolition the Pakistani establishment has got an ace up it's sleeve---the alienated Indian muslims , some of who are ready to help Pakistan in carrying out terror attacks not only in Kashmir but also in the Indian mainland in places like Mumbai and others .

It says that China fooled India on many occasions like the 'peace and tranquillity' agreement in 1993 , which made the Indians complacent but allowed China to build infrastructure for war on the border . It also says that China refuses to accept that it has a border with India in Ladakh , thereby implying that China regards Ladakh as disputed territory at best and Pakistani territory at worst .

It says that the Chinese and Pakistani armed forces have achieved a high degree of interoperability , and if India strikes into POK ( where large numbers of Chinese are present in one capacity or other due to the China Pakistan economic corridor ) then the consequent deaths of those Chinese could draw China into an India Pakistan confrontation---a dangerous proposition for India.

However the book seems to be excessively pessimistic about the Indian security scenario. On checking the Twitter handle of Sawhney his views seem to be communist , and on checking the Twitter handle of Ghazala she seems like a pro Pakistan Muslim.

Haven't read the whole book yet . Will write more after reading more of it .

Jaise ki second WW ke time pe,…hamare hi neta ( Boze – Azad Hind Fauj,.) logon ki ummed yeh thi ki,.. Japan aur Germany aa kar,.. hum British occupied India pe attack karein,..

( We were happy, when Japan attacked out Kolkata Harbour and from that day,................ It also even became our Best friend, till today,.. )

Aab bhi aisa hi ho rah hai,..
naa-layak Shashi Tharoor ( He openly challenges us,… China se punga nahin lene ka… )
aur Pappu jaise, bhi yeh chahte hi hai,.. ki Chin attack karein,… Kashmir side se,….BJP haare,.. ……..
aur kyun ki hum ne CHina ki secrets dene mein ( Nehru ke,… ) madad ki,……… toh baad mein,.. hum China supported puppet govt. ban ke raajya karein,…
aur iis tarah fir, hamaari sarkaar, fir kabhi naa gire,… ! !

Re: Reading the book 'Dragon on our doorstep' in the midst of confrontation with China

One thing is for certain, India on her own will find it difficult to fight China. if there is a war with Pakistan, whether in POK or not, whether any chinese are harmed or not, China will get involved. So if you ignore all other factors in the book, the situation is not very rosy.

Does the book mention anything about any allies for India?

Re: Reading the book 'Dragon on our doorstep' in the midst of confrontation with China

As I read the book further it rants about the alleged atrocities the Indian army is committing on the Kashmiris blah blah blah and the Kashmiris who have disappeared and presumably been killed by Indian army etc etc etc . Also calls for repealing the armed forces special powers act from Kashmir .

So the jehadi/commie agenda of the authors is now clear .

Re: Reading the book 'Dragon on our doorstep' in the midst of confrontation with China

Well,....... writers have powers of Pen, and as per their mindset bias they can give a spin on any side, by speaking high and rosy vision of that side,....Nthg new...

But the fact is, China and Pak. both are under terrible amount of mental pressure that Modi has created by visiting so many foreign nations,..and getting in our favor many,.... Plus, India is not that weak or weapon backwards either,... Agar woh yadi-kadi,.. Chaar khaata bhi hai,. toh dau to lagaayega bhi,...

We are rather more threatened by the China's Export to the India already, and that amount is so large that we can practically impossibly stop those, which we are dependent on,.. from fire-crackers to even Rakhee. Some 100+ arabs of export they do and in return we do hardly 5 arabs of export to them,...each year,.. which is lots of tons on money and making them building strong, saying them,... aa bail muje maar,..

In Whats up, I am receiving tons of video clips daily now,.. on these regards and even all religious leaders of so and so new born swami ( of Swaminarayan/Jain muni and such ) daily vouch and tout explaining the people to boycott China stuff,... China is already killing us,economically and have almost broken our spine,... and we are getting more and more dependent on them,...This battle is costing us more than anything else,.

Otherwise, I would be saying FU on such book writers, @ whatever they say..... this and that,... per their blood-dna inclination,..
