media streaming on ps3

Ramesh pai, Yeda Anna and all other techno experts.. I recently got me a PS3 and was kinda disappointed to learn that i cannot stream HULU content using the default PS3 browser.

is there a way around it ? I read on the net about Playon Server, Tversity etc.. but these are paid/Licensed software/services. Is there any good free software to do the same

Also not clear on the DLNA Server thingie..

I would appreciate some inputs from anyone who is using PS3 to stream online content to the TV

I thought Tversity and Orb were free... didn't know that they are paid services now. Had tried Orb but did not follow it completely through. If your TV has a built in streaming option... that should be good. My blu-ray has streaming (I think) but I have not tried it yet. I find hooking up a portable hard-drive the best option yet.

Have you looked into PlayOn?

yaar Tversity has a free and a paid version(The Pro version)

the free version is a joke it does not allow you to stream anything other than youtube / funny or die etc..

Tversity Pro is where all the action is including HULU. and it costs 40$..

Congrats on your ps3 purchase! given that this is a sony product and as such the asshats at sony have made sure its tightly locked! So, despite obvious hardware capabilities of decoding any video format, PS3 plays only divx and mpeg2 content. The consolation here though is that it does an amazing job of rendering this content.
</rant>

Short story: no fukkat app to do hulu!

For streaming to the ps3, I would recommend PlayOn. It plays Hulu, Cbs and a host of other online content.

Unfortunately, the dumbasses at playon have changed their pay model to subscription based. This is a stupid move and is bound to move away customers. Fortunately for me, I already have lifetime license which they will be honoring. I will still need to subscribe if I want to access premium content like comedy central and espn3 among others.

So, I would not buy it unless I used the trial and found it extremely appealing.

Re: media streaming on ps3

I tried to find something fokkat when I bought PS3 3 months back. But NO! there is nothing fokkat. I tried playon and it works but didn't think it was worth as I don't watch Hulu that much. I bought PS3 primarily for gaming, blue ray and netflix streaming.
