Tougher Chess Puzzles (force several moves and win)

Puzzle 1: Black to play and force moves on white such that black eventually wins (or maybe white just gives up)

Code:
FEN: 1KR5/PPP2P1P/r4q2/4n3/1Q3R2/3p4/pp4pp/1kr5
You can load this FEN code in chessup.net and try variations visually (instead of mentally )

[Solved in later posts]

who's winning this one ? black

black should keep checking with rook till white comes in a position where black can give a pawn check (B), else it looks like a draw to me (repetition)

Re: Tougher Chess Puzzles (force several moves and win)

you really can't force moves unless you assume that the opponent is as smart as you are. A dumb opponent can make a move that will cause you to win early

I do not think so
kd7 will give us this

Which will force white to move

and kb6 will be this

Which will not lead the result. Cause knight will be easily taken by the other pawn

Black: knight to d7
White : king to a8 (forced)
Black : Rook to c7 (take pawn)
White: gives up .. because if he takes rook, queen to d8 will finish the game .. and if he doesnt, then rook to c8 will finish the game .. and if he decides to take rook on a6 instead .. its still rook to c8 followed by rook to b8 after k to b7.

This one is all about getting the white pawn on a2 before it can queen. After that black has the pawn advantage and will easily win.

So .. start with

... Rook to f6
if white : king to a5 or c5, its easy ..
black: pawn to b4 check. no matter what white king does, black king moves to b2 and white cannot protect pawn

if white: king to b5, then
black: rook to f5 check.
no matter what white king does, its over. the rook will move into a5 and eventually take white pawn. May need to check with pawn to b3 first depends on kings move.

Re: Tougher Chess Puzzles (force several moves and win)

BTW, Landya - these arent "tougher" puzzles. In both cases, the material superiority of the proposed winner was so high, its not really a challenge as he could keep going for exchanges and eventually win when the opponent had nothing left.

smelly pai
what if after the step in bold above, white moves queen to e1? Then the puzzle is still open

Re: Tougher Chess Puzzles (force several moves and win)

Puzzle 1: I think i have got it (with multiple solutions)

Black(B): Knight E5-D7
White(W): King B8-A8
B: Knight D7-B6
At this point White has two choices.

Choice 1: Moving Pawn to kill Knight
W: Pawn C7-B6
B: Rook C1-C8 checkmate
Choice 2: Moving Queen to kill Knight
W: Queen B4-B6
B: Queen F6-B6
At this point, white has many choices he can make, but black will win in the next move.

Why not just move the king back to b8 after bolded move?

this sounds perfect

I think this is what you are trying to say

At this point white King has many options. King can come forward as well as go backward. If white king goes back (line 6) then we are back to where we started. And if White King goes back to a6 then black rook's move to a5 will not work

Also at the beginning of the puzzle after moving Rook to F6, White king can also go back at C7, causing more problems
