Modi's gift to small businesses

https://uk.reuters.com/article/us-in...-idUKKCN1PI1S6

India is introducing rules from february where it will be prohibited for companies selling products through firms that they have a stake in. The rules will also bar companies to have exclusive selling deals on platforms like Amazon and Flipkart.

I am not entirely certain I understand this. Companies like Cloudtail sell through amazon - I dont know if Cloudtail has a stake in amazon India. I am pretty sure the reverse is true - Amazon has a stake in Cloudtail - in which case, how can Cloudtail's products not be sold on amazon?

either way, there is a backlash from Amazon and Walmart/flipkart about this policy which is going to increase costs for them.

Should result in people either buying more from non-Amazon, non-Flipkart companies on Amazon and Flipkart or going to shops...

policy was published last month (I think) and will take effect from 1st Feb...

I wonder if that is the reason for 70% sale on Amazon.in......
