Unicode error on Echarcha forum

It’s a known issue for the members who have been writing in hindi on the forum – The hindi equivalent character “bh” looks like “T” if you copy any Unicode based hindi font. I have read posts, received mails and PMs regarding this . I think I should formally send this feedback out -

Two things:

This is not an error in HUG tool.
This does not happen on other places – (like blogs) I have tried it.

There is something wrong with the vb forum – I do not know what.

If you copy UNICODEs from HUG - it WORKS but I need to fix HUG so that enter key takes effect. - that is not an issue with technical perspective - just more work because of the hindi is not working I'll have to make you copy the unicodes and then make changes to the code as well

We can address this by writing a custom copy of the tool to by pass this error – I really do not want to do it till we exhaust other possibilities! Sunit will have to find some time to figure out what’s causing it and fix it otherwise you’ll keep seeing that “T” instead of “bh”.

That being said -
For those who want to write in phonetic hindi but do not like to use HUG for the know issues or they can’t wait for the final release – please download baraha 6.0 from http://www.baraha.com - it is a fantastic tool.

Thanks,
Zen

This is a bug in the way vbulletin submits the character.
It happens even if you copy paste or use an editor other than hug.

Wha't the place to report bugs in vbulletin? Do they have a bug tracking system?

This requires a fix in the vbulletin code, not in the text editors.

Thanks for the link.
The place to report this is:
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/bugs.php

I wasn't allowed to post here even after registering. If any one of you has access there, please post the bug. There is a similar bug in the yahoo mail web interface but for a different character.
Description:

The character 092D ( devanagari consonant bha - please see http://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/U0900.pdf ) is not displayed correctly in vbulletin posts.

The bha bug - fixed in vbulletin 3.0.5

I posted this bug on http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/bugs....iew&bugid=3637 but while posting a test case, found that it works ok on vBulletin 3.0.5.

I'm not sure how upgrades work or if vbulletin provides patches on request but if any of us were looking for reasons to supply to the admins to upgrade, you have one more now .
