Yes that is what I thought after I tried to chase through his ideas ... An online conversation is almost the same as a regular face-to-face conversation ... Attention is lost almost always after the 3rd sentence ...then we try to get the gist ..

Ours is a free speech site and so moderation is required only for spammers and sometimes during fights.

Yes there should be mods from India because there is only one mod during the day time, but again I many times see Chapai and Amthabhai online till 12.30pm and they are back by 6pm or so.Our Tantuji is a round-the-clock visitor to this site you cant predict when he will be online. So for a few hours the site is left unattended but I know many times our Cooldude bhai visits and clears up things.
So I dont think mods are that much required. The list you have made makes all the participants the police

I would once again say lets leave the mods as it is, if possible let the admin add a moderater from India to help Cooldude apart from that there is no need for moderators at present.
Apna site jitna simple hi utna hi acha lagta hi,with six moderators people are having so much issues with them imagine if we have more then how many complain will the admin and super moderators will have to handle.

Anyone supporting my view ?
I'd Quote Swami's Post here. I agree with him. Most of the members are from US and very few like me, vyomi, raniraja and few others are from India. I havent seen that much activity during Indian Day time (I am talking about spammers). And if they are posting crap it is getting deleted 'magically' with-in half an hour as some moderator (may be CD bhai or some one from US) does the job

And moderating posts of regular members who fights, as earlier someone suggested self moderation...Other member should send a kind PM or reply to that thread to consider the reply and edit it as it doent confirms the site rules...

So, What i personally believe that instead of recruiting more moderators, every member can act as a watchdog (Landyaji give better word ) for site rules offenders...We all have luxury of -ve rep so use it and use it for good purpose...

The only thing which moderators can do is Leave a message to the member whose post/thread has been edited/deleted/moved...That would solve half of the problems...I'd Suggest Cha pai to install a mod called as Auto PM notification on thread/post edit/delete. It will generate an automatic PM to the member saying the post/thread was edited/deleted.

Just my 2 paisa

Bahut lamba likh maara yaar... but I got the point... I think site is doing ok... once or twice someone might feel that his posts were moderated but others go scot free with similar content...

Ab uske liye itna tension kaahe ko lene ka.... kaun sa bada ramayan likh diya that each letter and word needs to be there. Kuchh aisa ho to mods ki taang kheencho, not like Gayaguzra or Compukid.... humlog bhi time to time mods ki lete hain... par kabhi dil se nahin..

I second Aargie that the member should be notified about the moderation unless the post is too vulgar or it is spamming. Let it go yaar, dont take this site so seriously... chai ki dukaan hai...peeyo pilaao chalte bano. You are not saving the world through your words.

Spriteji ... I haven't gone through entire thread ... couple of posts so far. Will try and read it all later. Two kind ... to some ... site is all fun and frolicks. Raat gayi baat gayi. We will leave it at that but they are valuable members of this site.

And some such as yourself ... stop explaining yourself or your efforts to spectators.

Spriteji ... be rest assured ... you are not alone ... many a good members do care and wish to leave this site better than when they found it ... count me one among them.

Quote above ... why is so? After a number of years ... why is this site still stuck at couple of dozen? ... I keep asking Sutradarji but get no satisfying reply ... where do we fail? ... what do admin and moderators do wrong? ... why are we not rolling in shit-load of hundreds of active members? This site comes top on many a search results related to our India. Why? What should we do? Can you place a finger?

Sanelessbhai ... no ... please be rest assured. I got too much respect for you to.

Yogi offends? So be it. No apologies ... no more. Now that Yogi is no longer a moderator ... he no longer gives a shit.

You cannot expect to be like Sulekha. Sulekha also sells stuff, so many members go there to look around.
U cannot be like Murthy.com because memebers go there for frre advise.

This site is content driven. Memebrs have to post something and not just cut and paste or some porno links. chitchatter.net has tons and tons of members coz they have many good porn downloads.

Quality is the motto of this site . That's what we have here. One thing I know for sure if I need to ask some question I am sure I will get a proper answer on this site since all the memebers are quite learned and educated.

Now we also drive away memebrs who are complete moron.

But memebrs that have stuck around are all cream of the crop.

Making all the regulars mod ? U think these smart dudes and a few sexy dudettes like Rakhi and lawgirl will stay here lust for that ? No they will not.
So u need to decide what u r going after kwality or kwaan-titty ?

Takes me time to understand your posts and reply to you

We will discuss 'why members don't stay back' in someother thread soon....let us pack this thread (and move it to lal-mirchi....)

Cutting all the bullcrap short, are moderators ready to get 'replaced' without any ifs and buts i.e unconditionally. Its not that I am pitching for their resignation right now but do they come with a "self" expiry date? See simple law of economics...when you create demand their will be supply. Can they carry out this straight-forward discussion with admin

M- I think I should give chance to others to moderate site
A- No...you are doing good. Why replacement?
M-I know I am doing good but let us give other guys chance too. If the new guy flutters I will take the reins again.
A- do you have anyone on your mind..
M- No, but float a requirement and I am sure people will come forward.

We all curse congress and leaders who are not ready to give powers. Either they want to stick to their position no matter what or they think that young-blood cannot take charge of this country. We are not like them , right or are we? ask me how administrative powers can rchange a person....spent all my life with civil servants...power can really change a gentle soul into a satan. How a person handles power and position is what defines a character.

I really appreciate you and cooldude's reply (minus recommending me). Good to see that you trust members and their abilities here. As mentioned earlier, this was just an exercise..something like "know your leaders program" andatleast I got some interesting insights

and I really appreciate echarcha bhau that he silently watched this thread and refrained from blasting me. The idea was a non-starter from the word go...I knew it all along...after recent moderator complaints..I really wanted to see the 'stuff' that moderators are made off

p.s- please do something about IP access

Why they dont stay is because of the nature of the forum. If you look at any big website or forum of the same nature, they are commercial forums. EC is a kind of private and non commercial forum. Other big sites that have more members and activity make a concious effort to gain members. They will spend thousands of dollars per months to gain more traffic, and make sure that both new and old members are continiously lured back (through offers and stuff) so that they can ultimately make a handsome profit on their investment. Those people invest money on their website and their main aim is to make profit.

Par Shokh mat karo, EC does have an under 90 k alexa ranking, which means that we roughly recieve about 10,000 new members (mostly through search engines like google). Toh goodwill to achi khasi hai EC ki internet mein

Ab jo aate hai vo tikate isliye nahi, ki saraay hai - khao, pio, khisko Cha Pai to paise bhi nahi lete, jyada logo ko pata chal gaya to deewalia nikal jaega site ka

Some members are really sensitive. They could be highly intelligent if given some room to breath. How many can stand for themselves without feeling cornered?
That guy Jason X, IRIS, Kundan to name a few.
