Alien Registration Number

Does a person on H1-B have this number?? It's also popularly called A-Number.
Is it the same as the one on I-94??

No

A number is given to you once you apply for the adjustment of Status from non-immigrant to immigrant. It is not the same as your I-94 number. However most of the INS form take either of those for non-immigrants.

Only when you file for I-485 do you get a "A" number or "Alien" number. When filling out any INS forms for purposes of Green Card you should always use this A number.

What you have on I-94 is different from what is commonly referred to as "A number" in green card parlance.
