Talking Telangana By-Polls , Congress kicked hard ..very hard !

disappointment to charcha bhai...looks like congress genius brains got it wrong, estimating telangana sentiment.
polls held in 12 constituences ...and congress defeated in all 12
and bonus is the defeat of AP cpngress chief at the hands of little known BJP candidate.

In a major setback to the ruling Congress party in Telangana region, its state president D Srinivas was defeated on his home turf of Nizamabad urban constituency by a margin of 12,600 votes.
In a repeat of 2009 results, Y Lakshminarayana of the Bharatiya Janata Party ] retained the seat, which he had quit in favour of Telangana state.
Srinivas had express confidence that he would wrest the seat with the support of sizeable minority vote bloc but the aggressive campaigning by the TRS in support of BJP candidates coupled with a very low voter turnout dampened his expectations.
According to the latest results, the TRS has won six seats, the BJP has won one seat and the TRS was leading in five constituencies.
Commenting on the outcome, Congress MP from Nizamabad Madhu Yashki said the party would have to seriously ponder over the results of the by-poll.
He added the results showed there was a strong sentiment in favour of Telagana state.
Among other notable Congress candidates, former minister G Vinod was facing defeat in Chennur (Scheduled Castes) constituency of Adilabad district.
All hope is not lost, as former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir is locked in a tight fight with A Ravinder Reddy of the TRS.
The use of ballot papers in the election has slowed down the counting process.
The TDP's lone seat is at stake as Vemulavada in Karimnagar district has been wrested by the TRS.
Ch Ramesh Rao, who had won the seat as TDP candidate last year, retained the seat as a TRS candidate. He was the only TRS legislator from Telangana to resign in support of Telangana state.
Senior Telugu Desam leader T Devender Goud said the victory of TRS in the by-elections was expected. He said the TDP leadership could not campaign for the party in the by-elections, as it was busy fighting against the Babili project of Maharashtr

Re: Telangana By-Polls , Congress kicked hard ..very hard !

'Telangana issue is a tsunami that will erupt'

Supporters of the Telangana movement are celebrating the results of the by-polls held in Andhra Pradesh. The Telangana Rashtra Samiti has swept the by-polls and pro-Telangana activists claim that the election result is an open message to the Shri Krishna Commission.
The Commission has been formed by the Centre to look into the demand for the creation of a separate state.
TRS general secretary Subhash Reddy told rediff.com, "I am elated. Although it was expected, this result has sent out a clear message to everyone. The Shri Krishna Commission doesn't need better proof of the people's sentiments about the issue. This result is an open letter to the commission which should act fast and give its recommendations to form Telangana state."
Reddy also claimed that any 'confusion' about the movement had been clarified by the success of the TRS. "The movement is stronger than ever today and politicians, especially those in the Congress and the Telegu Desam Party who played a double game, have got their answer," he added.
He also warned the Centre that in case of a delay by the Shri Krishna Commission, "No one can stop the public and all hell may break lose."
"We won't resort to any forceful protests. We have decided to wait for the report of the Shri Krishna Commission," he said.
Dr Prithviraj, the chief of the Students Joint Action Committee on Telangana, claimed that it was not the TRS but the cause of the pro-Telangana activists which had won.
"The people have thrown the Congress and the TDP out. All of you may have thought that the movement had died down. It is very much in our hearts and we have not forgotten. It is a Tsunami under water which will erupt," he said.
According to Dr Prithviraj, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu was 'scared' to visit Telangana.
"Congress president Sonia Gandhi , party leader Jaganmohan Reddy ] and Chief Minister K Rosaiah could not come here. Has an election ever been fought like this, where important leaders have hidden from the public," he said.
Branding the jubilant TRS 'like any other political party', Dr Prithviraj said, "I don't have much to say about the TRS. They did nothing but cash in on the movement and converted the popular sentiment into votes. The people did not have an alternative party to vote for. The TRS cannot claim credit for their victory; they can only thank the sentiment of the people."
He pointed out that nearly 300 people had died for the cause of a separate state. "This is what is taking the movement forward and the TRS must not forget that," Dr Prithviraj said.

This reminds me of AGP's victory in 84-85 in Assam, or later, the Mizoram elections after it attained statehood and Laldenga's party won the polls, defeating Congress roundedly.

Re: Telangana By-Polls , Congress kicked hard ..very hard !

I think the defeat in By-polls to congress should serve as a testate and will be showing what will be happening in the next General Elections if they keep bogging about the issue of Telangana, instead of separating the state.

||Jai Telangana||||Jai Telangana||||Jai Telangana||||Jai Telangana||

And also what business does such a national issue is having for being to posted in International Section.....

i feel sad about those innocent people who killed themselves for the sake of telangana statehood. whatever be the reason...politicians are dragging the state issue too much for the sake of their greed. Emotional telangana people are killing themselves. Andhra people despite claiming to living like brothers , have not seemed to understand the nature of their brothers.

students of telangana region are all charged up and emotional over this issue.i will prefer to divide the state...instead of waiting for another suicide to happen. the divide is now deep and clear. there is no point in trying to keep the state united. if things turn good...probably we can re-unite after few decades ..like how germans got united.

Jai Telangana !
Jai Jai Telangana ! !

enough suicides.

That is a very emotional response to a socio-geo-politico-economic situation. If the governments gave in to due to such reasons, you will find suicides happening over every issue - small or big. There is no dearth of people willing to die for money in our country, and enough vested interests to promote it. We will have kamikaze kind of suicides all over.

here people are not dying for money...they are dying for telangana state.

Re: Telangana By-Polls , Congress kicked hard ..very hard !

Good to see BJP win 1 seat and that Big Mouth D.Srinivas Yadav defeated.

Whatever may happen. I don't mind Congress winning in A.P but Jagan should never win. A.P has given very good Congress leaders but Sonia Gandhi has choosen YSR because he was a convert Christian. Now for minorities he is a Christian and for Telgu People he is reddy.

His son Jagan also thinks that 10% christian, 10% Muslims and many Poors, farmers benefitting from YSR schemes ,some Reddy are with him and he will become CM.

Re: Telangana By-Polls , Congress kicked hard ..very hard !

Telugu people are too docile and sometimes emotional. My 12 years stay in A.P has been quite good.

But it is their emotional nature which makes them sometime select leaders like YSR and who really screw up the state as a whole.

Just see the Roads of Hyderabad now to believe what I am saying. They are worst than 12 years ago. YSR ate up all the funds .

I don't mind their love with Congress as A.P indeed has produced good Congress leaders like PVN but they should not select another YSR now.

The best part is that this rank opportunist Chandra Nangu Naigu (CBN) has been completely decimated. His defeat is total. His antics of getting arrested in Maharashtra have not yielded him anything. It's time for him to retire.

Re: Telangana By-Polls , Congress kicked hard ..very hard !

Its elections, you win some you lose some.

So 1 BJP candidate won? Good, atleast BJP was relevant where the candidate won. Now only if BJP can do the same in rest of AP.

As for separate Telangana state or for that matter any movement for a separate state - the involved politicians are not happy with the share of the loot they get, so they want a separate state.
