Question When Out Of Work

The world is just out of recession (is it really?). How many of you were laid off or were / are expecting lay off's? What did/do you do when you have been laid off?

There must have been times when..

- You must have got anxious seeing your depleting savings
- You must have been worried how your rents were eating up into your savings
- You must have been worried about how long the bad spell would last.
- How long would you typically live off your social security?
- How you would pay your car installments?
- How would you manage your health insurance?

etc etc..

What was your first reaction when you heard in office that you were laid off?

Please share your experiences.

You definitely save money taking into account situations like these. So why worry so much? Yes, you cannot twiddle your thumbs and do nothing. You need to appear for interviews and pursue any suitable job. Many times you dont get the exact job you want, but you need to make do with it.

Re: When Out Of Work

I havenít done anything worthwhile for the last one year now (if you donít count joining echarcha). Sometimes its very depressing and gets worst when I review certain bad investments I have in my kitty. Initially I had some solace, that I never had a vacation for more than 10 days or so per year, in the last couple of years; so this is the time. But, now, idleness is killing me; more so mentally.

I have been into this situation ever since I landed on US soil....no employer or woman can keep me for more than 3 years....despite working my ass off and earning rave performance reviews in office and bed

to answer your question...I have accepted this fate of gypsy lifestyle. Someday I will buy a RV that can be used in winter as well and dispense with having to pay rent

Re: When Out Of Work

You cannot apply for job in bad economy(like we just had) - since there are no jobs to apply for in first place!
You just keep searching for job - that's all you can do.Can be very frustrating!

Re: When Out Of Work

1. Take a deep breath.
2. Remember your motto in life "never give up" cause you later dont want to regret that you never tried.
3. Find some nice hobby to keep your mind focused, busy and away from the fact that you are not getting a job.
4. Keep applying for jobs.
5. Update your skills by taking examinations for tech.certificates.
6. Try to be happy by blocking the thoughts of unemployment.
7. Keep reminding yourself that the economy is bad and unemployment rate has reached his zenith and if anyone has to be blamed it is Sir OBAMA

Re: When Out Of Work

When you are out of work, no point searching for a job, you won' get any coz the companies are hiring only employed people.
So no job = no job prospects.

So why not visit the brothels, dance bars and, in case of some of our esteemed members here, gay bars ..........
