I am starting this new thread as our old thread is quite long now. As I have noticed threads with very large number of replies can behave erratically from time to time.

So please continue your reports here.

One request - Please limit your posts in this thread ONLY for technical issues you are having with accessing and using the site.

Most common solution to the problems you may come across -
1) Clear out all your internet temporary cached files
2) Clear out all cookies
3) Clear the DNS cache (details posted below)
4) Reboot your computer.

Some tips for flushing your DNS incase you are unable to connect due to a recent server and IP address change.


Turning off DNS Caching under Microsoft Windows
If you experience frequent issues with DNS caching under Microsoft Windows, you can disable client-side DNS caching with either of these two commands:
net stop dnscache
sc servername stop dnscache

This will disable DNS caching until the next reboot. To make the change permanent, use the Service Controller tool or the Services tool to set the DNS Client service startup type to Disabled.



Tuning DNS Caching under Microsoft Windows
You can modify the behavior of the Microsoft Windows DNS caching algorithm by setting two registry entries in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dnscache\Parameters registry key.
The MaxCacheTtl represents the maximum time that the results of a DNS lookup will be cached. The default value is 86,400 seconds. If you set this value to 1, DNS entries will only be cashed for a single second.
MaxNegativeCacheTtl represents the maximim time that the results of a failed DNS lookup will be cached. The default value is 900 seconds. If you set this value to 0, failed DNS lookups will not be cached.


Also dont forget to clear your Temporary Internet Folder or Internet Cache.

Some updates --

The server we were previously on was a Celeron 1.3GHz with 512MBs of RAM and a 80GB hard drive. The new server is a Dual-Core 64-Bit 3GHz server with 4GBs of RAM and two 160GB drives ran in RAID 1/mirroring. In terms of software the server is running 64-Bit CentOS Enterprise and a newer version of Apache along with eAccelerator.

Also the data center is now in Seattle instead of the earlier one in Texas.

So, we are seeing speed improvements plus lesser hops to connect from outside US, especially India.

One of the things I noticed is that we lost some attachments during move. I am trying to recover them, but since we use a file system for attachments I dont know if we can successfully.

So incase you see a missing attachment, please re-upload it. Also try to give distinct file names without spaces and not just 1.jpg etc.

I am also pruning users who have registered but have not logged in for a year and have not made a single post since registration. There are many many such users. I will prune them in smaller batches.

FROM OUR ISP

The server was set to block hacking networks in Hong Kong which appears 202.88.0.0/22 was on that list. That block has been lifted and he/she should be able to access the site fine now.

Have you tried to send a test PM to some member?
Can you send a test PM with just a few words and no smilies or any other BB codes in it?

Also did you do all that I asked you to?

Can you email me the information I need at admin@echarcha.com ??

I cannot fix anything nor can the ISP fix anything UNLESS we have the information mentioned -
1) tracert results
2) ping results
3) the actual URL and error message of the page you see when you send a PM.

I have repeated this now one more time. So unless you help out here I cannot help.

I just tried accessing using that ISP, I am still unable to. Same problem. "The page cannot be displayed."

the day I posted my tracert and ping results thast day and next three days I had trouble in accessing echarcha.
then rakhi dear mailed me the page with tools.ultrawebsitehosting and I chatted with one of the tech there and he cleared my IP from the firewall block and Its up again. He(kevin ) told me that editpost query had some problem and now they are fixing it but that was three days ago. I apologize that somehow I closed that chatbox without saving it.
